I have a 97 CC with a 5.2 and have been having a problem with it wanting to start idling rough (usually on cold start), then when the engine starts its rough idle fit, I start hearing a hissing sound coming from around the passenger side of the engine. Yesterday, it also wanted to start sputtering after shifting into 2nd gear when I was leaving the house. I bought a new cap and rotor which I plan on putting on this weekend. We've had a ton of rain (San Antonio), so I'm wondering if the moisture is causing the problems. BTW, the truck has 65k miles on it with all the original ignition parts (except plugs). Sorry if this is a novel.

Hiss sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Check for vacuum line coming loose in that area or perhaps one in a hot area that may have burned through from being close to the exhaust.
