I am in desperate need for a 318 short block. All I seem to be able to find are 360's. I have an 11# vortech ready to go on the truck but with close to 200k miles on the truck I want a new engine. I wouldn't mind a few miles on the engine though around 50-60k miles. any help would be greatly appreciated. I can be contacted at justins96ss@yahoo.com Thanks, Justin

Why not rebuild the one you have? It may prove to actually be a better method if your block isn't cracked, you can get it honed, faced, and stuff like that, you know, the usual rebuild.

The reason I saw use the the block you have, is because it is seasoned, which a new block wouldn't be. The older one is actually stronger you could say. Also, you can get a good valve job while you're at it. With blowin' the truck like ya are the extra effort in heads is well worth it.

Brand new isn't always best in the auto engine world!

Yeah, I'd recommend rebuilding your current block as well. With 200,000 miles, it's pretty obvious that there aren't any real flaws in that particular block, and that you can build a -solid- engine into it. :0)

Thanks for replying to my thread. I should have been a little more descriptive. I plan on rebuilding my current engine after I've made the swap. I am just trying to reduce the amount of down time I'll have while doing the mods. That way when the stock engine goes south I'll have a fully built long block ready to go. Thanks again for the expediant replies. Any more info. and advice is extremely welcome.

Take care, Justin
