I just have a quick question...
Based on peoples experience and materials each use, what do you guys think about how the intense intake vs. the 360intakez.com Intake for the 3.9 v6 ? ? Are both Equal performance wise ? And durablity/materials?
I ask because I think 360 use's a K&N filter but I think Intense does not ?
Bottom line... Which is better based on the facts?
Any feed back is appreciated.

I'd also like some input. Is the big mouth filter as good or better than the k&n?

I have the 360 airintakez on my 4.7. the 360 comes with the 9 inch K&N. The only problem that I'm haveing is trying to keep it from rubbing on my A/C lines.

S&B (used on the Z-tube) claims better flow rates than K&N. not sure if it makes a difference in real-world usage, but it cant hurt. i like the S&B design better, open in the front unlike the K&N which has a plate right where it seems it could be taking in air directly from the front of the engine compartment. either one should be okay though.

howdy: i had hesitation when installing my Z-tube due to the same thing - A/C lines. what i did was make a bracket shaped like a very lazy S. i bolted it onto the upper bolt where the stock airbox connected. i then shoved some foam over the bracket to keep it from scratching. i shaped it so that it gave some positive up-pressure on the joint where the tube and filter meet. then i zip-tied it all together and there is no movement at all now. this might prove helpful for the 360 unit as well.

Howdy-
My 360's rubber splice sits on the A/C line, so there is no problem. Try moving it sligthly where it connects to the TB so the rubber splice lines up with the A/C line.

I compared a "Air Force One" intake vs. the Intense Performance 7" BigMouth (Stage-II) and the BigMouth filter (and ceramic coated) tube really do make a difference on mid to top-end power (at WOT). It's on the "Tips and Tricks" page (SpeedTweaks).

Bernd,

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't K&N license their technology from S&B?

BTW I am actually Mike Marcade that comes into your shop. =)

Bernd,
what do you think about the 9 inch filter?
is it an advantage? I only ask because there are other size filters... for the same size engine (v6 3.9)

Get the 360. It comes with a heat shield. Less hot air = more cold air. More cold air = more air.

BlkDak, when I was talking to Bernd about ordering a Z-tube, he had said that the 7" Big Mouth was capable of moving more than enough air. if you take a look at the either S&B's or K&N's site, i think they pretty much say that they'll move enough air for a 600hp engine. i think for most people the flow rates are more than enough.

btw, i ended up getting the 7" Big Mouth.

A heat shield does nothing when the engine compartment is encased with hot air and the temperatures outside are above 80 degress. I know that the intense stage II was a great investment with excellent quality. I went with the pro-flow filter on my R/T.

thnx guys...
so i guess its pretty much 50/50 with the intake.
I tend to exclude K&N because i dont think they make the intake for 3.9 So I guess its either Intense or 360'z
