Hey everyone

I don't know if anyone knew this and if you did guess I'm just repeating something then.

Tonight when I was cleaning under my hood. and You know the Protective rubber thing on the Passenger side that protects the AC coils and a hole in the side??? Well I took it off to clean it and I said..[ in my head}

Wonder if this will help out performance???

Well I left it off and took it for a spin and WOW..

What a difference in low end torque and "Getup and Go" Speed...

I don't have Cold Air intake system [yet] so I think this was pretty good.

So the lesson for today is..

Take off the little rubber thingy next to the Radiator and get a cheap performance increase...

My 2cent's

Dakota Man 2002,

Are you running a 4.7 engine?

Did you also take off the 90deg elbow off the front of the air filter box?

If not, you really think that anything happened from removing the rubber flap?

Ever heard of the 'placebo' effect?

This must have been one of those, just joking posts, right? I thought you must have been, who would take the flap off just to clean it?

Check out a search on the subject, if you were
serious that is.

I would really like to but need to find out
if I can do it w/o messing with my warranty.

To hmmm
I think its to protect the A/c coils for the
evaporator. I think not really sure.

and

To Texas Todd

I'm running the 3.9 V6

I haven't taken off the 90deg elbow yet. I prb will soon. I tried too w/o taking out the air box but its just too long to pull out all the way. But I will.

I notice alittle pickup in my truck now. I also put it back on and test dove it again afterwords and I could tell the difference. Others maybe not..Who knows....just sharing info.

And about taking it off..I was washing under my hood..coz there was about an inch of mudd EVERYWHERE under the hood. I'm talking a mud pit on my engine.{ I really like to go off-roading :o)}

I'm going to try and get the 90deg elbow off tonight when I get home.

I was just mearly sharing my info and exprence with everyone else in the fourm. I'm still a performance newbie.

WARNING, if you take that thing off and go mudding, you will ruin any filter that is not covered (cold air intake) and pssibly get mud all over everything under the hood.

I have heard that it is a good idea to take it offf UNLESS you go mudding.

I took mine off yesterday and it truely does help out with any intake (mines a homebrew hybrid)

Dakota man 2002,

Kinda sorry, wasn't trying to flame you, I've just read alot of sarcastic posts today.

Sounds like fun, mines more of a street truck, rarely offroad, unless it's on the beach here in Galveston TX. And that's about EVERY weekend, I pull my catamaran sailboat to the beach with my badboy QC.

Mudding does sound like fun though, too much drought around these parts for that.
