Has anyone notice any 1/4 improvements when removing the rear bumper and replacing it with a rollpan type?

The bumper design is just horrible, I bet I could shave a 2/10th or more by replacing it with a rollpan. Try sticking your hand out of the window at 93-94mph while making a cup shape with your hand next time.

F.Y.I I just removed that pastic cover on the passengers side, not only does the engine run cooler, it keeps my tanny cooler too. The paint on that side of the radiator was starting to peal due to the trapped heat. Less heat=longer tranny life plus keeps line pressure down that causes 1st to get stuck not wanting to shift into 2nd.

Anthony...trust me your bumper isn't gonna slow you down that much...its the fact thats your pushin a truck through a wall of wind thats the problem lol. I, along w/ my other R/T buddies, remove the tailgate and spare when we race. A buddy of mine has the same heads and cam setup as I do and about the same mods, he has a rollpan but I don't and we got about the same ET's I actually did a few 1/100's of a second better than him a couple times. It might act like a parachute but its not slowing U down enough to make a difference.

Are you talkin about that rubber flap in front of the grill? or are you talkin about the aluminum lookin semi-spherical cover on the passenger side fender?

It's the rubber flap. Only use might be to keep dirt and water from entering the engine bay. Mostly needed for 4x4 people and very very bad weather. Good summer mod.

So MikeD, where the heads and cam worth it? Or should your of gone supercharged route?

BTW,

Removing your tailgate INCREASES drag. Try lowering it instead of removing it. A closed tailgate has LESS drag than a removed one. This has been proven in wind tunnels.

Lowering the tailgate acts as a spoiler. I got worse mileage driving long distance with the gate down vs. up. When I take it off, I get slightly better mileage than when it's up and closed.

Anthony, its definately worth it, if you get the right combo and degree the cam in right you can get as much HP as a supercharger and for less money...think overall for heads & cam I spent about $2000-2500. Plus if I ever want a SC the engine is already built up for it, if I don't want a SC then I still have extra power. The rumble at a stoplight is worth it all by itself if you ask me. The first week I had it in I had about 5 compliments on the sound alone.
