He he, not really...

I would like to do all of the work myself on one of these turbo kits for the 4.7, and it seems to me that everyone speaks of outrageous pricing on the kits, which includes all the parts to work together to make the system.
Isn't it true that all the actual parts can be shopped on the internet for a good bit less than this $4000 price tag you guys are speaking of???

Intercooler: $350 (used maybe?? Air/Air)
T04B,ceramic: $800 (No t-timer needeed for oil)
Tubing+Silicone fittings $350 at the most
Custom header $150 (build it yourself)
Water/alcohol $200 (supplement air/air hi boost
FMU $250 (not sure on this one)
Gagues $100
BOV $75 (really!!)
BoostController $125 (manual adjust/better IMHO
Wastegate $125 (not sure on that price)

Total: $2525 , do it yourself...

They are coming along good. I haven't done much over the winter, but I need to change out the LSD unit, or the entire rear assembly.

Motor wise, I'll probably stay where I am for a while. The heads and headwork really make a HUGE difference in overall performance, but I killed an O2 sensor. I probably need to upgrade to FMS 30lb injectors, and tune all that in (I am running slightly lean). I'm going to change the exhaust layout as well (currently a rear outlet w/ 2 mufflers & true duals) to a right side behind the cab exit (with a dual inlet/outlet muffler). Then it's time for a new throttle body (again). The rest of my time (and money) is going towards my Maxima and a Turbo Miata buildup that I am just starting...

Cool... Lots of projects..

How much did your highest dyno run bring after all that headwork and exhaust/intake work?

I bought a Trac Lok for $75, and it seemed to work at first, and it will lock both up when I dump the clutch and FLOOR it, but otherwise it still wears out the right tire first....

Maybe rebuilding it with a few more discs would help.. Is that expensive?

Fellas, Im in the process of building up a turbo kit as we speak. The only parts I still need are oil lines, a BOV, and fuel management.

I hope to be finished with it in a couple of weeks.

I will be copying Duner for the most part but with a few twists I think I can get her done for about $1000 (with good shopping techniques).

Thats with a .96AR T04B, adjustable 5-10 or so psi, and no custom manifolds.

Stay tuned.

Cancel The Dak Project!!!!!!\
I bought an Infiniti G20 with the SR20DET in it for $1700 in NY on Tuesday. It's a 91 in PERFECT condition, with a very smooth running engine and transmission....
I am in too much debt, and the Dak is sucking way too much gas to commute at my present income, and it's not half the truck a 2500 with a Cummins is, and gets the same gas mileage unloaded, and worse (WAY WORSE) mileage loaded... I am very pleased with the trucks overall quality and function as a mid-sized pickup, and it will certainly blow all other mid-sized trucks away, but it won't blow a turbo G20 away.
The G20, if you didn't know, since they don't look like much, is one of the top handling cars on the road, and handles much like an M3, if not slightly better with the right tires and wheels on it.
The real reason I got it was just to get out of debt completely, and I truly didn't realize what I was getting until I drove it and researched them a little.. I have always known that the SR20DET is much like a VTEC if not better, and supposedly handle 400 hp on stock internals, and so I am very interested in 275 hp in a 2300 lb car! There is one word to describe that combination! FAST! Probably will never see 11's, but it could, and a 13.0 is quick enough to trail a vette, and roast an SS and a Lightning, if you can hook up..
Later Dak fans!!! Have fun and be safe!!

gas mileage was my problem when it came to
keeping the dak. the 2.0 Turbo cars seem to
be great on gas, my suby gets a consistant
23mpg, with a full turboback exhaust, catless
uppipe, drop in filter, and BOV, and definately
beats the snot out of the stangs and camaros.

DemonDakota: if you want to see a fast miata
with a stock internal 1.8, check this out...I was
amazed at what this little car can do!

I think you may be over simplifying things. To start with the fuel pressure regulator is on top of the tank. That's why there is only one connection at the fuel rails. Stock pump may or may not support the flow required at elevated pressure once you put in a return line and a rail regulator/FMU or SFMU. There is a lot of fab work involved in the exhaust plumbing. Things are tight. Shields will be required to keep the harness and computer from frying. What about all the plumbing to and from the intercooler? Where and how is it going to get mounted? When I think "Kit" I think bolt on with hardware and instructions to do a complete job. I think you may be overlooking a lot of details.

Mr.H, my truck is hovering right at 270 RWHP right now (depending on temp/conditions/fuel, it dynos anywhere from 265-285). RWTQ is where the real fun is at (350+ on each dyno run). But as I said, I am running lean, so I have to correct that a tad bit. I also need a bigger TB for sure, as I'm positive that my 70mm is limiting me (time for a 72mm or a custom built billet 74-75mm).

Yeah, that is one sick a$$ Turbo Miata. I'm going with a Flyin' Miata FM2 turbo kit at 12 PSi, but I plan on turning the 1.8L into a 2.0L via a slight bore/stroke kit. Should help out seriously on the TQ. I'm also using a 1994 Miata (1994-1995 are the best years to turbo, being pre OBD2 but still having the 1.8L engine and better rear end).

You're a ricer too....
Tell me; what are the limits on a stock SR20 that comes in the NA form from Nissan?
All I read is Sylvia,Sylvia,Sylvia!!!! This motor redlines at 7250 from the factory, and I'd be very interested to know what kind of turbo system she'll handle right out of the box.......
I sure love the Dak, however, and maybe the new job will enable me to keep it. Hmmmm... We'll see.
Anyone heard of Delphin? That's where I work now.
Anyways.. Thanks..

SR20DET on stock internals can handle approx 400 HP before you need to start upgrading internals. It's a great engine, and has virtually thousands of mods available. It's one of the cult status engines in the world (like the HEMI is over here...)

The new Nissan S15's are totally awesome. I'd love to get my hands on one over here on the states...

Miata's are cool as hell looking. And RWD too!

Stock they aren't sh*t. With a turbo like that one, damn that's bad a$$ sh*t! I see in one of his pictures he's using a Fluke D50 dual temp meter sitting on his seat(got one myself). I wonder what he's testing. Incoming air temp???

They are also cool with Ford 5.0's in them. Of course people always use STOCK 5.0's but they sound bad a$$ with the V8. Just think if you built a turbo or S/C'd 5.0?

What kind of boost can the stock head gasket, rings, and pistons handle if it's intercooled?
I'm thinking hard on a manual tranny swap since it's an auto now, and then going to the real stuff, like boost.... All depending on the job of course, which depends on me...
