Trash or worth the 80 bucks? Heard good? Heard bad? I want your opinion. The item in question is called the Helix, supposedly by slipping a threaded TB spacer into your intake it increases your air flow effiecency, I have a feeling its crap but I want to make sure. Any comments?

Talked to one of the techs at airmax ( the people who make the power tower) and he said they redesigned the towers so now they function well. He said they dynoed everything and the result were good. I asked for some dyno sheets though and he said he couldn't supply them. So until I see the dyno sheets i'm still a skeptic. I don't want to hopefully "feel" the difference. I want to see it on paper.

Some things have already proven themselves. A K&N filter attached to a tube to the TB (z-tube or 360intakez) or a larger TB are two examples. Everyone knows you'll get more power.

i'm with CThomp - stick with what seems work for everyone. even though many have reported great gains with things like the Jet chips, enough have noticed no gains at all to steer me away. so far, the only things i have seen either 100% or very close to all positive results with are the following:

new catback exhaust
high flow cat
high flow air intake (take your pick)
ported/polished TB
headers
IAT adjuster (if you can find one, does almost the same thing as the Jet chips, but only $35 and it's adjustable with on/off)

now i dont include the obvious HO or EHO parts. those are documented winners in gaining performance, but the cost for someone like me to have someone install them is prohibitive. from all my research, the simple and cheap things are a great start, and thats my plan.

maybe once i run out of warranty and get closer to paying mine off, there might be a SC setup planned, but until then, i'll stick with what is known to work.

hth...

You WILL NOT void the warranty with a supercharger install UNLESS the S/C is the DIRECT cause of the mechanical failure. Check out US Title 15 Chapter 50 on vehicles warranties.

i'm not waiting on the SC because of the warranty. mainly for money reasons :) i figure by the time that runs out i'll have paid off most of the truck and i'll have the extra $$ for a SC...

Spacers aren't great but I had one on my 5.9 and it "seemed" to improve throttle response. ONe thing is for sure, it didn't hurt it!

Mr. Sleepy,

I read that a helix spacer may work well on a 4.7L V8, but not well on a 3.9l V6, 5.2L V8 and 5.7L V8 because of the beer barrel intake manifold. If anyone knows different, please correct me.

Holy Fa'golies... thank you guys for the info, much appreciated. Guess I'll steer clear from the helix until paper results come in.

Yes, but has anyone tried it with the M1 intake? Maybe it works on that one because it is not the beer keg manifold. Mmmmmmm Beer:)

Lets face it, that thing is not worth it. Once it hits the M1 it has to split into 4 runners. If you have the M1 your intake is pretty much peaked out. You can buy this device called the "turtle" that goes on the M1. I bought one but have not installed it yet, but for $46 you can't go wrong.

Here is the info from they guy that sold them:
Im ready to start on the M1 2bbl Turtle….Some of you 1st heard about it, and maybe seen my spare at Mopars At The Rock in Rockingham. It is in the 7th generation stage….I have been working on it for almost 9 months, After many changes and dyno time, Im ready to release it. Anyone that has installed the 2bbl M1, knows about the big plug in the bottom, its right below the TB. This plug really disturbs the air flow, and if you use nitrous there is a big cup in the plug that could collect fuel, the turtle that I have come up with fixes both problems and it showed a 7 HP and 16
FPToruqe on the dyno with my set-up….Im not going to say everyone will see this, because it will vary with your set-up and what you have done to your truck. This turtle is not just a cone or a pyramid, it is a little of both and I was very happy with the results. It is made from billet Alum. The kit that I will supply is very easy to install, you don't have to drill any holes, all you need to do is remove the TB, remove the plug
and replace it with the plug I supply, and attach the turtle. I will start taking payments now. And will email you, when I get it. The kit will be $40.00 +$6.00 shipping. I will use Paypal for this project… send the money to this address

I bought one off Ebay for $90 and it seemed to help throttle response, and did help mileage (+1.5 mpg) but it WHISTLED really bad. I mean, Loud, esp. at part throttle. SO i took it off. If you want to try it I'll sell it to you for 50!
