I plan on getting a new Dakota at the end of this year and I am going to play it extreme, 4wd=all the way up, 2wd=all the way down. Anyway, I was wondering what the weight differences were between a 2wd Dakota w/4.7 and a 2wd S-10 w/4.3 and also a 2wd Ranger w/their biggest V6 available in the Ranger? All three are reg. cab, short beds.

My 2001 Dakota RC V6 4X2 weighs 3700 lbs. The 4.7 may not weigh much more. Do not know the weight or the others for sure, but others may weigh between 3200 and 3500 lbs.

My '99 dodge dakota sport extended cab 4x4 weighs in at a meaty 5500lbs. I am not sure of the s-10 or others but i know they are all less than that

Ernie's weights are pretty close on the S-10 and Ranger. A Dakota reg cab short bed in the '97 on weighs almost as the full size Chev/GMC and Ferd reg cab short bed. Same goes for the CC or extended cab versions. '96 and older Dakotas weren't as heavy as the newer version.
