Man CThomp, hehe I was beginning to think you from another planet, saying that the OD of the tube is what matters until I read the "oops tube ID...sorry" post LOL

Hey CW, Can you please fill us in on your h-brew setup? How do you keep it from touching the A/C lines?
I like the look and design of the 4" z-tube but I have a h-brew intake that works fine for me, I really can't justify paying another $250 (or so) on top of the $200 for a 71mm TB. Sh!t, that's another truck payment plus $10

Thanks

I think in a couple of months i'm gonna get the airmax. It's a 3.5" ID tube. If I don't notice anything different from what I have then I'll return it. But i'm curious I guess.

Yeah I didn't even think about that post till I had switched off my connection. Had to fix it before somebody called me on it.

I don't remember having any problems with the A/C lines. Maybe a little tweak at the rad opening. Oh yeah you can see it is close at the compressor but that will be solved as soon as I get a Flowmetrics. The cruise was mor of a pain in the a$$.

What kind of pipe, and filter did you use (I can see it's a K&N, but what application?)

Sorry for the 20 questions.

Thats the same problem i'm having. I think my intake would be much more functional if my c/c lines were out of the way. I talked to Bernd about it and he said there maybe another place I could maneuver the unit to. I haven't had any luck finding this place. I've also heard intense includes this bracket in the z-tube kits. I e-mailed intense about the subject but never heard a thing. Bernd says he can't even get a hold of them.

I had a discussion with someone on this site about putting a filter right on the TB itself. I didn't think the hood would close but the guy said since it's an oval shaped filter it shut just fine. what about that idea?

Sees like you'd get to much heat from the engine. It'd be fine if you could mount the intake farthe forward but I don't think there's room for it.

now ya got me thinking again, I'll have to check it out when I get home.

If I'm thinking right, it would almost rest on the plentum, (that's not too hot is it?)

I would almost think that my h-brew setup is in a more heated area because of the exhaust manifolds

Here's a shot of mine

I think the the way yours is now is probably fine. It may just need a heat shield. Nice truck by the way...looks like mine but with 4wd and fender flares.

Thanks, I was talking with D (someone on this site) and he said:

"I used the airaid, I cant remember how much,
but I bought it at the local speed shop... you
can get them from truckperformance.com i
believe they are like $150.... It only comes with
the filter and heat shield, so its kinda pricey,
honestly, I think I am gonna switch to the 360
intakez pretty soon (for the looks) my pvc just
doesnt do it for me anymore ; )"

$150!!!! That's ridicules for a folded up piece of sheet medal used for a shield and a $60 air filter $150 sheeeesh. Hook line and sinker lol
If I can get my hands on some sheet metal I'll make a h-shield for it.

Do ya have any pics of your truck CThomp?

If you just go to the K&N site there are universal filters. Universal filters.
It is made out of 4" mandrel bent exhaust pipe. 2 90° pieces are all you need and to weld them together. Used a cut down fernco rubber coupler to mate it to the TB. Oh yeah removed the rubber flap as well. I think Summit or other online stores have the pipe you can order.

No pics yet. I'm gonna borrow a digital camera this weekend and have some fun. I'll take some side by side pics of the TB's then I have to send my old TB back the the Fastman. $150 is a huge chunk just for an ad on to an airintake. Why not just build one out sheet aluminum? Check the thread "Homebrew Today-track tomorrow". I think thats it. Should be on the most recent page. Some of the guys on that thread had some good ideas. If I could only figure out how to overcome my c/c cable problems then i'll be golden. I think I may add a 2-3" extension out of ABS to the pipe and see how that does. If I could just get past that damn cable I'd be in good shape.

I had to tweak the piss out of the bracket on mine and then take about ¾" out of the top to lean it back some. Worked well.

CW, Doesn't that exhaust pipe (your intake) act like an oven on the incoming air? Looks mean though.
Oh yeah, what's that potentiometer looking switch on the pic above for?

CThomp, you better hurry up and get that TB back to Dan. he's guna charge you for it lol.
About the c/c lines just cut them who gives a rats @ss about them, it's easier to add the intake without it hehe. At the second 90 degree from the TB (the one attached to the flange) and turned it down away from the cables.

Yeah I can get away with more mods but if I did something and screwed up something else I doubt I would be after Chrysler for warranty. I am flat rate I don't have time to be screwing around on the computer so no I am never at work when it comes to this board.

I work 8-5 as well but in Canada you are not a licensed tech until you have 4 years of schooling and on the job training.

Unfortunately they don't let anyone toy with the computers. Damn emissions.

I keep checking my pvc in this type of weather just in case, I just hope the primer paint helps to dissipate the heat (I don't think it will but I can always hope lol)

Right now i'm doin some home improvement too. Neverending projects. Especially when my girl is naggin me to do what she wants me to do. You should see the look on her face when I just say "no". It's at least entertaining.

CW: Do you think the electric fan would be feasible for me? Being that I live in South Florida I have concerns about an electric fans functionality. It's damn hot most of the year down hear and damn humid pretty much all of the year.

Just look at the F&B TB. The inside looks the same but the outside looks different not being billet aluminum.

Funny thing with my girl is that she's not even living with me yet. I plan on being with her and her living with me eventually. But she knows she's gonna be living with me eventually so she already trys to make things her way. It pretty funny. We compromise pretty well though. This weekend I built these planter boxes for my patio. She wanted to put flowers all over the place. Right now I have a friend from way back livin in my second room. Two guys and flowers? Not happennin. If she was livin wih me it'd be different. So we compromised and i'm goona throw a bunch of ferns and some other tropical stuff into the mix. It'll look more like a jugle and less like a fruity a$$ flower garden.

Yea but think about it, as long as she takes care of the flowers (AND NOT YOU) fk-it let her put the flowers in anybody says sh!t just tell them how fun she was the night before hehe that'll shut them up.

To make her happy let her have that sh!t after she move in.
