Ok guys, I have a 98' Dakota 318. It has a factory transmission cooler on it. Its between the radiator and condensor. WEll, It's now leaking. I want to upgrade to a Perma cool transmission cooler. I wondering what I can do with the line coming from the radiator to the cooler? I can't put a rubber line with a clamp right? It doesn't have barb fittings. So what I was thinking is can I put some sort of fitting on it? I know its metric, it takes a 19mm flare nut wrench. Has any done this before? add a aftermarket one in place of the stock one?

Thanks

You should be able to take a tubing cutter and remove the stock fittings at the cooler (if they aren't where your leak is),flare the ends a little bit,and use hose and clamps to attach a new cooler. It might even make mounting it easier.

I put in a trans cooler a few years back to suppliment the stock one. A few months ago my transmission went and blew chunks through the cooling system. I now just have the auxilary cooler I put on and it works fine. Just bypass the stock unit completely.

Fix the factory cooler then run a B&M supercooler too. The hot fluid should go to the factory cooler first, to the secondary cooler for even more cooling then back to the trans.
