4.56 is way to tall for a dakota. with a set of 4.56 gears you will top out at about the 1/8 mile mark and you won't have any more trans gear left to go the rest of the way. i wouldn't go any higher than an 4.10 gear. a set of 3.92 would probably be better. with a 3.92 you won't see much better 1/4 mile performance than a set of 4.10 gears.

Ok so either go with the 4.10 or 3.92 ???
And basicly im not going to be going to the track with my truck.. its not that fast to begin with anyways.. i just want to improve my get up and go speeds. my truck does not make long travels to anywhere.. so i may just go with the 3.92 if they will work.??

Is your Dak an auto or standard and are you running (or will you be) taller than stock tires?

If your Dak is a standard then I'd recommend the 3:90's. Anything higher than that would make 1st gear useless except for stop & go traffic.

If your Dak is an auto then the 4:10's would definitely help the take off.

And as for tire height, if you're running an inch or two over stock then 4:10s would work whether it's a standard or auto.
