Jegs (www.jegs.com) sells a MSD 8.5mm plug wire set that is custom fit for the 5.2 Dodge. It is shown as 94-97 Dodge Ram 5.2 V-8, but they fit my 97 Dakota 5.2 perfectly right out of the box. Only drawback is that they are too big to fit the factory wire looms. Jegs also sells the Accel direct-replacement high voltage coil. This also was a perfect fit on my Dakota; took all of 5 minutes to install.

i see autolite plugs are the way to go. So, borg-warner cap and rotor are way to go? Taylor wires the way to go? What about a better coil? (better performance) Any ideas? (brand and part numbers for coil, and taylor wires)

Where can i get taylor wires?
Is MSD ignition system any good?

the only differance between the 8mm and the 8.5mm has more insulation. the core is the same on both wires. if you have headers you might want to go with the 8.5 because of the added heat.

i had 8.5mm MSD wires on my truck and they didnt fit in the stock wire holder thingies, and melted on my headers. i switched to the 7mm bosh wires (pretty much stock) and i got the same performance out of them as i did my $80 MSD's!

i was giving "dakotakid" some tips on wires that he was asking about.

do a search under MSD, or ignitions, and im sure you will find most of the people have not had much luck with the msd systems. one or two people claim to get a little better mpg, but for the $200 you spend on the ignition, you could have a LOT of gas...lol

IMHO, save your cash. all you need is some $1 plugs, regular wires, and a borg-warner cap and rotor and you are done.

if you inhale goofy gas, or get force fed, i would see spending the $$$ on the ignition.
