 Subject: 46RE missing a gear

Ok, It's no mistery that the 46RE is tempermental. I've noticed sometimes when I'm hot footing it around sometimes it wil down shift into 2nd fine, and when I rev out it shifts into (what feels like) nuetral. On the way to work today it does it every time.
fluid level is fine
when I drive normal it shifts fine.
I have a Trango shift kit and am wondering if I should go for it or find the problem first. I'm going to drive from So. Washington to Sacramento this weekend I hope. I've only had gears never had an auto so this is new to me.

Replace the Governor Pressure Solenoid, Transducer, and Overdrive Solenoid Pack when installing the shift kit.
(It's a common problem)
