I posted this on the general board by mistake so I'll try again here. When I tried to start my truck yesterday it would turn over but wouldn't start. After a few minutes I held the accelerator down and it started right away but with a big cloud of black smoke and it would stall as soon as I released the gas pedal. I had to apply some gas pedal while holding the brake pedal and put it in gear and after 50 feet it ran perfect and is fine now. Should I go to the dealer or does this sound common for an 01 v6 auto? Any advice?

Yes.....Immediately take it to the dealer, especially if it's still under warranty.

You just experienced an injector sticking open. It filled the engine full of fuel. More than likely the intake valve was closed beneath the injector that screwed up, so the fuel instead filled up the intake manifold. That's where the big cloud of black smoke came from.

If it happens again and the intake valve is open directly below that injector - it could damage the engine. If it's no longer under warranty then you will need to be proactive and get it fixed before it breaks. The injectors will need to be replaced. I recommend replacing them with Bosch injectors instead of the junk one's that Mopar is using lately.

Thanks, It's an 01 so it's still under warranty so I'll try and get in to see the dealer tomorrow.
