Ya not sure what a good exhaust is for my 01 4.7 4x4, I was going to get a gibson cat back, but a guy at dodge said it sounds like crap, and he says magna flow, is the best, does any one own gibson catback or other exhaust that they really like.

I have a Magnaflow, and it rocks. Not too loud in the cab, and the sound really carries outside the cab. Nice deep, mellow tone.

i went with the mbrp cuda style dual catback system. very sweet sounding, quiet in the cab, but you can still hear how it rumbles and roars on the throttle.

Stay away from Magnaflow and Dynomax, they make you sound like a ricer. I have an MBRP, that's my vote. My friends think it sounds better than the Flowmaster 40 on the 408 in my last truck.

pull up next to me and tell me I sound like a
ricer...you better plug your ears though. the
only one thing that would make your 4.7
sound like a "ricer" is a glasspack, or no
mufler at all.

Dynomax are great mufflers, great sound,
lifetime warranty

Flowmasters, seams break at the neck,
sound "Raspy"

Magnaflow Stainless steel, nice finish, nice
sound, lifetime warranty.

MBRP great quality, nice sound, pricey?

My MBRP was about $50 more than a Borla or Gibson system, so I figure it was in the ballpark for stainless.

You will have to get rid of the third cat yourself.

I found a shop that will remove my 3rd cat but he advised me to wait until I get more mileage on the truck, I guess he figures if something happens while the truck is under warranty I better still have the cat on it.

Are you sure that's your 3rd cat and not your only cat? I assumed I had pre-cats on my truck. When I crawled under and looked, I've only got one cat. It's a little tougher to cut that out because of the rear 02 sensor.

To each their own, I say. That's the reason all of our rides look different, and that's why one person will say cut in a Flowmaster while the next says get a custom exhaust with a Spintech muffler. I personall went with a Gibson, swept-side, stainless. It has a nice rumble to it and an awesome V8 cackle on deceleration.

Check out the following link, it has one of the best compilations of exhaust sounds for our Dakotas.

Don't know who you were asking about being sure if truck has pre-cats, mine def. does, only problem with the exhaust wavs on the R/T site is 99% of them are on R/T's with the 360 which will sound louder than the 4.7 will with the same setup.
