How many of you have a Gibson Catback Exhaust system on a Gen. III 3.9L V6? How does it sound or does anyone have any sound bites?

I don't have any sound bites, but i like the sound of mine. I only know from inside the cab, as no one else has really ever driven my truck. I have the single swept side exhaust, in stainless, on my 2000 3.9L. It has a nice low growl at idle to around 2000 rpms, much louder than stock, then it kinda mellows out at cruising rpms and you don't really notice it. Over 3000 rpms, it gets kinda loud, and little bit high pitched. I would describe it as kind of like the rattle-buzz you get from a 4-banger with a pipe, but a lot deeper. Maybe like a rice-burner on steroids? I like the sound, but I don't know if its for everyone. I have seen some 3.9L trucks with the dual outlets, and I thought they sounded like they were sick. Also, I haven't heard many of the other brands to compare with. I met a guy with a Borla, and his sounded a bit quieter than mine. Hope that helps you out a little!!

I've got the dual 2.5" Gibson cat back and K&N on my 97' 3.9 and would strongly reccommend the 2.25" if you wanted to go with the dual exhaust. Any way you go, just keep in mind that it's a 6 cyl. and will sound like one .

I have the Cat-back dual exhaust system and have had alot of success with power increase and sound. For $300, you can't pass it up. I got a 98 Dakota w/ the 3.9 and i love it.

I agree i have the single swept side and love it, not too loud, but much nicer then the stock sound. And very easy to install (once you get the old system off)

Hacksaw. Or Dremel. Something to shorten the length of it so you can slide it outta there. I'm pretty sure that the Gibson comes in two pieces. By the way... Where (and how much$$$) did you order your Gibson? I'll be needing one of these soon, and I'll try any place except for truckperformance.com

Well, i just talked to my dad. He's the one who ordered it, kind of a supprize thing for my birthday. I guess he ordered it from truckperformance.com. Why wouldnt your order from them? They seem alright to him, my dad talked to them on the phone and my Gibson should be here by the end of next week. We had it shipped ground because it was free. If they are a shitty .com, does anyone know of any better online places to buy from. The savings that can be found online make it not worth it to go to a local shop (i know, shame shame). Plus where i live, we dont have very many good places with good prices to buy from, so im forced to use the internet. Anyways, if anyone has any good companys to buy from, with good prices, let me know. I have about a million and one things i want to buy for my dak.

JC Whitney carries them for a little better price. I haven't had any trouble ordering anything from them, but the Gibson does ship from the factory so it may take longer.

OMG! thats a way better price. Does it come with all the same equipment? Like for mounting and such. Damn, well its probably to late to cancel, looks like im going to be buying from JC Whitney if all their prices are as competitive as this. Damn, thats what i get for not asking where to buy.
