Subject: what would you do
IP: Logged

Message:
Task: Modify the RT (2000 CC)
Condition: A budget of 5-6000 dollars
Standard: AQAFP in the 1/4 (as quick as... you know the rest)

What would you do to this truck? Mods in place are weak :)

Plugs, wires, open element air cleaner (14x2.75), 3 inch spintech w/ dual 2.5 outs, and a lot of interior stuff--that's where I spend all my time anyway

I was looking at the lightning killer package, or something along those lines but also what about going along a forced induction route?

Should I stick with the standard bolt-on theme? Or look elsewhere?

Items that I must have are:
Hotchkis kit with Bilsteins
Jonas' chrome 20s (love the leather by the way!)
MBRP cuda style exhaust (its a looks thing!)
Tires & rims for the track

Do not include these items into my budget. I already have cash set aside for these.

I hope to conduct research over the next few months and get input from other members in my quest for "my ride." I plan to do my mods towards the end of the year, early next year. Sorry for the delay but I won't be back in the states until about then. I will be settled in Oklahoma by late November

I am currently making all my income tax free and spending my leisure time thinking of my truck :) Somebody help me think of ways to baby it!

Thanks in advance!

If you have the paitience and don't have to have a emissions sticker get Berds twin turbo system. With a freed up exhaust and a M-1 450hp should be pretty easy.

Get a Vortec R-Trim, some traction devices, a shift kit and a little bit o' nitrous (50-shot or 75 shot). Easy 12's from a street driver.

The kenne bell kits comes with tons of "bolt ons" as part of the kit !

You could spend close to half of your budget on the rims and tires. I would personally get the GO FAST PARTS first and then worry about the interior later because it's cheaper !!!

Forced Induction!

Message:
That Lightning Killer package would be nice if you don't like power adders but it won't be nearly as quick for the dollars spent. There is no disputing that forced induction will get you the quickest ride. Of course adding Nos to that will certainly be potent also. If you have to deal with emissions testing than a blower will be your best bet. So far, I've seen the best results from people with Vortech kits installed.

twin turbo...its gonna be a legit setup, bolt on,
just like an supercharger setup, but it looks
like it will be slightly cheaper than the Kenne
Bell

Email Bernd for his advice on where to start.

I am guessing M1 intake, shift kit, etc, but my
advice would be to wait until the Turbo is
finised, projected HP out of the twin turbo kit
tops all of the superchargers out there.

the kenny bell makes tons of torque at low rpm. which you dont want, because the truck will have a major traction problem. i have also heard the kb comes with a knock sensor, and at 4000+ rpm, it takes a lot of timing out and you loose a lot of hp.

i'd go with the paxton novi 2000 kit. there is a group buy on the delphi R/T board right now.
i'd also go with the M-1 manifold, and headers

Well just to clarify my first message... those few items I listed at the top are things that I have already done (i.e., the interior is just where I want it--leather pics on Jonas' site).

I am looking to expand outward into the world of performance now :)

I am gonna have to pass on the N2O; had it on my old ride. Of course, I still do have the bottle and solenoids :))) hmmm.

Anyone know what Bernd's timeline is for his TT project? I *will* be in his neck of the woods at the end of the year :)

Thanks for the input everyone.

Giusto: Timeframe is about 3 more weeks and the initial kit will be completed. Once we've conducted all the testing, bug "fixes" (if required), and fine tuning, we will start on the production kit build-ups (manifolds, intake tubing, oiling lines, and intercooler lines.

Bernd-- do you have an approximate time frame as far as things like emmisions testing and so on? I live in Mass, same emmissions rules as Cali. This will be my major determining factor on a turbo set up. Thanks!
