My V6 used to knock (lifter tap) in the mornings before I switched oil filter brands. WIX and Mobil-1 have a good anti-drainback valve in them...had too many problems with Fram and STP in the past.

Is this the knocking noise you're referring to?

My son's R/T knocks (pings) when it is cold. This is probably a wire location problem and covered in one of the TSBs that you can find under the RECALLS/TSBs section.

hey blkv6
knocking is caused by premature fuel combustion. Ussualy this happen when you use a lower than recomended octane rating, try a higher octane

mine knocks (tapping) when you first start it in the mourning. and lasts for bout 10 seconds and goes away.I think it's a colapsed lifter but it's done it since the truck was new.??? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. This is very annoying to me cause it seems that there is something internaly damaged.
