My stock throttle body has these little walls above the surface of the two openings. Do they interfere with the airflow? Is it possible for a machine shop to smooth them out or is it better just to get a different TB? Bernd, you the throttle body man, help me out here.

BTW, I don't know what size it is to begin with but it is the stock TB.

If you're referring to the "Stone Henge" blocks that sit on the front and back of the TB...you can cut them down to the same level as the side blocks. If your '95 has the same airhat hold-down plate like the '97+ Daks...you can also thin the metal plate to the width of the nut holding the airhat screw. (That's IF you have this setup on your.)

The other was is to build your own "S-Bolt" for the airhat hold-down screw. You'll need a 1/4x20 rod and a small vise to build it.

I've got the diagram on my lonestar website for this: http://lonestar.texas.net/~bernd/S-Bolt.jpg

Bernd, actually, I was referring to the walls that were smoothed out/removed like theTB on the left on your website.

Is that something a machine shop could do or I could do with a dremel?

That was done by hand...by Jules at Magnum Performance. It can also be done with steel wool but I personally haven't seen any massive improvements with just polishing the bores. On the older carbs, that worked well...but we run MPI (aka: Dry Manifold) systems. Polishing the manifold runners and heads would be better...but only if they were ported as well.

Check out what Mark Kuzia did to his TB for reference:

Word of caution though: If you've never ported anything...don't do this by hand. If you make a mistake on the bores, shaft, or blades...you'll either have to throw the TB away or send it in to one of the people who modify the TB's on a daily basis to get it fixed. One wrong slip is all it takes.
