Thinking about upgrading the ignition system on my new 5.9 quad cab. Anyone had experience with Jacobs system? What brand system are you running and how do you like it? Mostly interested in low end and mid range performance.

I'm using the MSD 6a ignition with an Accel coil. I don't think I could tell any difference in the way mine ran with these components.

I have been using their Omni Torquer ignition for over two years now. Love it! I'm using their wires, $.99 AutoLite plugs gapped to .55.

Had a Jacobs on a Ford 150 with a 302. The one we traded in for the Dak. :-)
Cannot say I liked it very much. Actually I (*^$^*7ed up the truck. Had to end-up disconnecting it because it would die intermitently. (and this was the $200.00 + system)

I had the complete Jacobs system, every last part, even the spark plug washer things, on a Wrangler with the 4.0L. Didn't even know it was there. I wouldn't say it was worth all the money and installation time.

I have a 93 Ext. Cab 4X4 Dakota 3.9l with the Jacobs RV team ignition system. It has made an incredible difference in the low to mid range especially when towing my 26' Travel Trailer. Also helped in the gas mileage. Worth every penny, also excellent installation instructions making installing very easy.

I did the Jacobs thing also.What a waste of time and money! Sent the whole thing back for a refund.I kept the wires though.Then I sent them back also.Everytime I went the pull a plug wire off(pulling on the boot)the little metal thing that attaches to the plug would rip off and stay on the plug!

I have the Jacobs Omni Magnum system on my 1990 Dak. it helped my power out somewhat and my MPG. Did not make it a monster by any means but I could tell a difference. If you do get any electronic system, and if you jave headers, be careful. I bought a Jacobs system from the control boxes to the wires, and burnt up a wire on my header. Did not know it until driving about 40 miles from home and my truck lost a cylinder. But that was a rough feeling. But I just money rigged it back to get home. But If you are in for the long run, it is worth it. With other mods, it will show. But if you expect an instant hp jump, got with something else.
