Looking down the road, i would like to imagine i
would swap out my 4.7 for a 360 crate engine
complete from mopar. Do any of these engines bolt
up to production transmissions or do you have to
get a new tranny as well?

The trans is different you will need an A518, A500 , 727 or a 904 for the 360 . Don't bother with a crate engine - they are junk!!! About the only thing they are is a decent parts kit. After you buy one you have to tear it apart and clean it and while it's apart you might as well send the block out and get it honed another .010" with torque plates and get a set of forged pistons for it and also have the rotating assembly balanced , heads ported , longer valves and better springs and also a set of roller rockers, have ARP bolts pressed into the rods and have them re-sized and maybe swap to a better cam , etc . Also have to get headers and exhaust , set up some type of ignition system and re-wire the truck after you ditch the fuel injected motor.
