Do you have the full time 4wd? do they spin at all just taking off? I bought a 2002 cc 4.7L 4x4 and all the hd stuff they had to offer including the 3.92's LSD and mine spin just fine, never power breaked though.

I have the same truck except its a 2001. If the engine is tired after a full day of driving then its hard to power brake it. Sometimes it has no problem doing it. Hold the brake and mash the gas down. Dont push it slow. I feel like Im going to blow something if I hold the gas down and it dosent do anything.

No i don't have full time 4WD. I just have a 4x2.
I have a 3.55 Multi speed auto, 45RFE(what ever that means). When ever I punch it both wheels will spin pretty good. Its just when I try to power brake they won't spin, maybe its because I push it slow and I don't punch it. Next time I try to power brake I'll slam the gas. Thanks for the advice!!

Don't stand on the brake pedal if you want the rear wheels to spin. Apply only enough pressure to engage the front brakes.

I have the 4.7/3.55/auto, too. Trust me... it'll barbeque the tires all day long. Keep tryin'.... the tire shops will love you.

It's possible that the rear brakes (drums) are too tight and are engaging first. If you think this may be the problem, take off the wheel and the drum. There is a gear at the bottom. There is a lever holding it in place. Release the lever and let the gear roll back a bit.

Put the drum back on and see how freely it turns. It should turn, but there should be some rubbing on the brake shoes. There is a slot on the back of the brake drum (probably with a rubber plug in it - if so, remove the plug). You can use a screwdriver (carefully) to rotate the gear until the brake shoes are rubbing a bit.

I can't say this is what it is for sure, but it's a possibility. Just a thought.

with my old charger I would push the break pedal down nice and tight, floor it (the gas) and then ease off of the breaks (the tires should spin faster and faster the more you ease off the breaks) if the truck begins to creep forward apply more pressure to the breaks. if you cant get them to spin, don't mess with it. Not to mention the added wear and tear to the rear breaks

try that it worked for me

Alright I gave it a try as I was leaving work, you must have a 2 cylinder if you can't get them to spin I didn't even floor it and they lit up like a son-of-a b!tch

You do realize that power-braking will glaze (ruin) your rear brakes, don't you?

"WTF" was that post about, there Jeremy?

All I was saying is that WD-40 will get em slicked up and they'll spin til they come apart in chunks.

The movie industry does it all the time. Half the cars you see do a smoky burnout or a huge powerslide in a chase scene don't have enough power to get out of their own way.

But when you buy cheapcheap tires and pump them up to about 75 psi and then coat the tread with baby oil, you can even take a mid-80's LTD cop car from a standstill to instant smokin doughnuts at the flip of the pedal.

Ever see the video for "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys? Ever watch Ronin? Ever see Smokey & The Bandit Pt III?

It is. I'm gonna have to get a whole new housing for my ring. And my pinion. I think it's just a blown seal, but you know I'm not gonna bother to get my carrier machined.

Okay that's enough. I may just go buy some Pepto at CVS.....
