Subject: Correct heads for supercharging
IP: Logged

Message:
When running a supercharger would it be better to use ported R/T heads or Ported stock heads? I've heard that the R/T heads have too large of intake ports over the stock heads which reduces the boost pressure entering the cylinder. This leads to believe that the stock heads ported would work better. Any Input?

If you use a M1 2BBL with the MP R/T Heads, you'll loose about 1.5-2# boost. This isn't really a big deal as the M1 and R/T heads make up for the loss. If you want, install the 9# pulley to compensate and you'll be running at right around 7# boost with both the manifold and heads. Either way, you can't loose.

The factory heads, while they do work well...are rather small on port size. A set of ported, factory heads will easily be out-flowed by a stock set of R/T heads.

On the 2.02 heads, wihtout proper cam, intake, and exhaust mods/tuning...they're too big for the average street driver. Stick with 1.92 or 1.97 on the intake valve size.
