Subject: How bad is powerbraking?

Message:
I have a 2001 4.7l auto with 3.92LS and I have done it a few times just for a second, but my tires are getting really bald and I want to really smoke them before I get rid of them for good. But I would like a few opinions on possibly damaging the axle or transmission?

You are at risk of doing some damage, but I really cant say, It is not exactly easy on the driveline. I like fast speed, not smoke shows, the only other thing i like is after it rains the roads are wet, i like to kick the truck sideways from coming out of a turn, Love the posi drift..

I would surely like all my torque transferred to the pavement and not lost during slipping, but like I said I want to burn the hell out of them before replacing them, I am going to pirelli scorpions. I agree on the fishtailing in the rain, I have gotten good enough to do them in a "controlled" manner.

in most cases on a fast start spinning is easier on the driveline then spinning. on a brake stand there is a little strain the drive train, but you should be ok.

its easy, pull up to a cement rataining wall at a parking lot bilt into a hill, slowly creep towards wall, when you get contact GIVE IT HELL, then you dont wear out your brakes in the process,

thats the easiest way to get rid of unwanted tires

only problem there is you can't roll when you're slowing the wheels down. correct me if i'm wrong, but couldn't you do damage to your drive train if when doing a power brake burnout, you just left off the gas and not let off the brakes before so you actually roll to a stop?

You got it, unless you're on a bike, then hold the front brake. Please don't share these driving tips with Jeffy Gordon.
