hey all....tried putting on my new 360 intake tonight, and i cannot lie, im not happy with it. the fit is really sloppy. anyone else have this on a 4.7? i also dont think i have a tight seal...seems to be a slight weezing coming from around the TB...is that what this could be?? it does definitely sound like more air is being sucked into the engine, and a quick test drive revealed the awesome sound...im just thinking that maybe this particular intake isnt the right thing for me. any info is appreciated.

thanks

The way I look at it is this...you are getting a homegrown product with some fancy upgrades like mandrel bends, breather hose connector, silicone couplings...it isn't some fancy "Z tube". But then again it also costs way less. If you want something functional with some looks the 360 was good for me...If you want pro looks for shows and stuff then get something else.

None of these intakes are worth a dam red cent,I sold my z-tube and that 360 thing is the same mandrel bent peice of exhaust pipe ,majorly over priced exhaust pipe for reduced bottom end and slightly better high rpms,is it worth it uh uh.Everyone including myself at first thinks those intakes do a better job but, leave your intake on for awhile a month or so then put back the stock setup and you will see the difference

It's weird. (I don't want to start a war over this), but my 360 intake fit beautifully ('01 4.7). The fit was snug, sure,,but it aint going anywhere that's for sure. No clearance problems, nice clean little setup.

Power increase?,,,,,the butt dyno said yes. However; I haven't been dynoed since I put it on. I do have an original dyno w/only catback exhaust on to compare it against when I do though. My Tazzo comes in today,,and I'll do another 1/4 run.

I am very pleased w/my intake. I payed $150 for it,,I wanted something that looked nice, and got the job done. For the money I'm happy, and would suggest it to anyone.

so this slight weezing sound....kind of sounds like a quick shot of compressed air (if that makes sense to ya?) is that a leak or just a sound associated with an aftermarket intake? i dont notice any hesitation or anything. is it ok to drive around like this for a bit? thanks

Hey guys.I'm in the middle of swapping out my 3.9 for a 5.9 in my lifted 4x4 cc 33inch sneakered yeller dak.The 360 came out of a 99 durango along with the trans/ computer/ etc.Now I was wondering what this 360 breather set up is and where do I get one, and any performance tips would be a great help.(yes the 408 stroker is started but money only allows a stock 360 for now)P.S. To all you 4.7 racing preps,I owned a 00 cc 4x4 and tried to tow a boat, sleds and 92 vette(to the strip)Give me a break! If you want to use a truck for what is was built to do GO WITH THE 360!!!!.The 4.7 is a great engine for kids to street race with, but falls flat on it's $$# when it comes to REAL truck work.

I don't have any wheezing or unusual sounds with mine. I may sell it. It is a bit to loud for me.

So if I want to increase torque in the lower RPM, I should stay with the stock air intake?

Hey, i have it on my 3.9l and i like it. It souns good and it knocked off 5 tenths on my 1/8th mile and 4 tenths off my 1/4 mile. As for the install, i had to work with it but that might have just been b/c it was actually made for a 5.9. I fits fine now though, no problems. I can mostly feel the difference when im on the road at about 50mph and i go to pass someone, there was a BIG difference there!

I think the 'weezing' you are hearing is just the sound of the TB, and just normal operations. You have to remember you removed the stock air hat w/the silencers/baffles in there. You've got a straight shot tube now,,,If it's too loud,,,get some exhaust :)
Sounds like everything should be fine. There aren't TOO many spots for leaks,,and if there was one you would be able to see it. just my 2 cents

The noise you are hearing is the air being sucked in through the throttle body - you will hear this noise no matter what aftermarket K&N kit you purchase. I swapped my air intakes back and forth along with a service technician and it's definitely a natural occurance, the factory air box is just very restrictive in comparison and muffles the sound.

I got the 360 Air Intakez K&N kit because it looks better under the hood than the other kits, the heat shield helps keep the temperatures down, and the bang for the buck definitely was in this product. I didn't want some PVC pipe screaming 'MacGyver!' underneath my hood, and in the intense heat out here they would just warp anyways. The Mopar/K&N FIPK kit has cracked for almost everyone who has owned one, and the other intakes just plain look homemade to me. I watched Joe Bobblett make the intake that is on my truck right now, and would recommend them to anybody.

As for the butt dyno, the K&N kit definitely increased both low end and top end performance. The moment I put on my 360 intake, I had to learn how to keep my foot out of it lest my tires go up in smoke (fat lot of good that did though, my first set of RSA's lasted 10k).

thanks guys...i think i was slightly delirious last night after having put this thing on. after careful inspection today i realized that the reason i was hearing this blast of air was b/c the TB was opening up...if it was due to a leak i would have heard it the whole time, not only when i tugged the throttle a bit. i do LOVE the sound. it may have taken a bit of low end torque away for now, but at about 3400-3500 rpms it really gives it a kick in the pants. sounds mean to.

now for that exhaust.....

thanks again everyone

Well sincity yours is a rt not a 4.7,you cant compare apple to oranges its a totally different intake, the air sucking is normal because the 4.7 air hat deadens the sound

There are no baffles in the 4.7 "air hat".
