so i just lowered my 2001 2wd sport and sold back my 265/65/16's becuase the tires were rubbing. So I got Falken 235/60/16H's instead. The thing looks mean, I have to tell my truck to stay as I walk away from it!

But ive been thinking and here is my question: at cruising speeds will my truck be outputing less %power to maintain those speeds? If so, does that mean it will be at a less efficient throtle and actually get less gas mileage? I know that sounds counter-intuitive.

also, I think that per rotation my truck will have thought that it has gone farther and thus display a higher speed reading (ie, when im going 65, my speedo will say 70).

Or does the so-called brain do a calculation internally to compensate for this?

if not how does one calibrate it? anyone done this?

Smaller tire x same speed = more RPM (and prolly less gas mileage, but also depends on rear end gears.

Your summation on the speedo is correct.....and it won't automatically correct for smaller tires.

If tire size was originally offered on vehicle, Dodge may be able to flash the computer to correct speedo.

Did you notice the better acceleration?????

yeah i guess i got better acceleration bjlindsey. according to the inertia equations (I=Pi*R^4/4), my old tires had 37175.60 in^4 and my new tires have 26484.91 in^4. therefore it should be much easier to pull those tires. but I only have a V6, so much of what i feel is probably a placebo effect.

but who cares, my truck looks sweet...dude.
