Basically I'm wondering whats to gain by relocating the IAT sensor. How much does it help and is it really worth the time? I'm not real sure the purpose of this sensor anyway? Any help would be appriciated. Thanks again guys.

the sensor uses the intake air temp. to adjust fuel and spark. ever notice how your truck seems to run better when you first start it up? that's because the intake temp is cooler at that time. by relocating it from the hot air inside the intake after warmup, you will get that "better" felling all the time. i did it to mine and it was a very noticable difference. if suprised me because it was something so easy and logical.

Yeah, very simple to do. Two wires. :0)

It made a surprising difference, I agree.

all you have to do is take the sensor out of the manifold, drill a hole into the intake tube and stick the sensor in the whole. i hear silicone works good so it wont fall out. then plug the hole in the manifold where you pulled the sensor from.

when you are looking at the engine from the front, the sensor is on the passenger side nearest to the fan. it has a brass fitting on it

I would like to relocate my IAT too, but I'm worried if I take my Dak into the dealer for warranty work. Could they void my engine warranty??

... just put it back in the intake manifold before ya go... it's not permanent. use a bolt and nut to fill the hole in the intake tube were the iat was.

I bought a new one...$28.00...Mounted it in the bottom of the K&N FIPK intake tube about 8" away from the original location..Left the original sensor in the manifold...Just pull the plug from one and plug into the other when I need to switch back...It's a clean install...

I bought a 1/4" NPT pipe plug from Home Depot for about 80 cents. Filled the hole from the IAT in about 5 seconds and matches the beer barrel/M1 color too. I used a dremel tool to gouge a hole in my 360airintakez tube and screwed the IAT right in.

Great. Now that your truck runs richer you can
clean your spark plugs more often and take
more trips to the pumps.
I am not convinced this is a worthwhile mod.

TeamFast... why don't you just try it. it won't hurt... it will only cost you the price of the pipe plug (less than a dollar). i havent had any change in mpg with this mod.

TeamFast: It's worth the relocation. The IAT sensor is heated to the point that the performance suffers on the Magnum engines. The only Dodge engine that it's located in the airbox is the Viper. Try it...then decide. ;)

(Heck, we even did it to my buddies Stratus and it woke it up a bit as well - Hot running performance isn't degraded anymore.)

Heh,

If anything, I'd say my milage went up. But then, when your doing math on a calculator using rough numbers, maybe going from 18.25 mpg to 18.89 mpg is within the realm of "it probally is the same, idiot" :0)

Do you think relocating the IAT to the airbox is better then Bernds IAT adjuster? Has anyone tried both and noticed any difference?

Injection is nice, but i'd rather be blown.
