I had the splitfires in a '93 V8 and they weren't the best plugs, especially with a $4 pricetag. I prematurely yanked them. They caused too much ping and an occasional misfire.

The SF522D are a projected tip and the 3923 Autolites are a standard tip. That's the physical difference.

I guess I should have been more more specific, What are the benefits and/or reasons performance-wise of the 3923 plugs?

The 3923's are one step colder so they help to prevent detonation. They also don't stick as far into the cylinder. You'll have to go to King Bernd for the performance benefits if any.

I installed the 3923's in my 92 5.2 and would like to know if I should be running a bigger gap than the stock .035? I do not have any aftermarket ignition yet, but I am installing an MP PCM today. Any advice would be great!

On the gap of plugs, stay with the stock gap until you get an aftermarket ignition, e.g., MSD 6A.

Waste of money if you consider that the 3923's have been proven to work the best at less than $1 per plug.

I used bosch platinums for a few years before recently switching to the autolites. I had excessive ping with 93 octane fuel in the rpm range of 3000-4000.
