has anybody had any experience with paxton
on a 4.7 motor?

I like everything about the Novi 1000 except
the fact that the oil pan has to be tapped. Is
this a bad thing, and are the performance
gains worth the extra debt I will be in?

I dont have many mods, but think the
supercharger @ 6lbs of boost would push my
dak into the 300+ rwhp range????

My advice to you is not to go into dept anymore on your truck till its paid off. This is assuming your truck isn't payed for.

Charging mods has the snowball affect. Buy things that you can write a check for or cover in full w/visa when the bill comes.

Hahahaha, where were you when i got a loan for my supercharger? Im so far behind i can almost see my self trying to catch up.
Was it worth it? EVERY PENNY! :) Hehehehe.
Anyways, im not biased towards the KB or the Paxton. I think both are good in the way they make power (roots vs. centrifual (sp)). The one think i like about the KB, is its all there at 2000 rpm. :)

Yeah, I know. I sound stupid. Since 98 I've gone through a 98 dakota, 99 camaro ss and a 99 corvette. Guess what I drive now, a 74 chevy pickup I paid $500 for and I have 11K in CC debt from superchargers, other modifications and mostly racing (road coarse lapping).

When its all paid off, I will NOT put mods on the CC. If I can't pay for it in full, I can not afford it, period.

3500 shouldnt take too long to save, hopefully less than a year, I was hoping somebody had one installed on a 4.7... I Like the KB also, just not worth the extra cash, for the looks, and not having to tap the oil pan. Plus, if I have boost at 2000RPMs, I'm gonna have to stop at 3 gas stations on the way home from school!

How can nobody have a paxton on a 4.7? I read the write up on the durango @ speedtweaks.net, but would like to hear some real world reveiws/comments, not just HP numbers, but 1/4 times too.

Glen C: how much time did you gain in the 1/4?

One of the bad things of living in north idaho, is no local track to go test times. :( I wasnt able to get any HP or times before the supercharger. Im waiting for the 10" of snow we just got in the last two days to melt off and the sun to come out before i go looking for a track to get some time slips. After that happens i guess you could just compair them to a stock dak. Its nice having full boost at 2 grand tho. My truck is an auto, and doesnt spend much time in the higher rpms, so having it nice and low is fun. In anycase i love it, and cant live with out it. :)

1/4 times depend on the driver, but a
supercharged 4.7 has to be pushing 300
rwhp + with minor mods. the paxton charged
durango had 296 hp....I think that was
rearwheel.

avg hp gain is like 40% with the paxton, kinda
wierd how nobody has one though.

started the paxton fundraiser already....just
have to convince my girlfriend (ouch) harder to
do that than save the cash.

yeah, my warrenty is out the window. I even got that 75,000 mile extended one. I figured the KB gave me 50%, but i've heard some people say 60% and 40%... so untill i get the 75 bux to throw it on a dyno, i'll never know. The KB is nice, i'd be concerned with traction. The KB makes alot of power really quick and you can loose traction very easily. The Paxton is supposed to (by design) make more power than the roots at a higher rpm. Dunno if it does it tho, KB really did a great job on this blower. Well, when i win the lotto i'll buy 2 more 2wd daks, and but a KB on one and a Paxton on the other and we will really find out which is "better" (i think that depends on your application).

The only reason I don't like a KB in mine is the traction issue. Hate to say it but it has too much torque to hold down in my little truck.

See i like having it all there for my HEAVY 4x4. I love throwing it in 4 when its wet and slick and race some kit in a ricer. I take off like a rocket (ok a slow rocket) and he just sits there and spins his front tires. :)
