Subject: Better Coil - not much $$?

Is there such a thing as a better coil that won't break the bank? I have been looking into Accel but I don't know what model will work on my truck. What do you guys think I should do? I have a:
98 V6 4x4, 392 gears, 5 1/2 inch lift, 33x12.50 tires, ram air, turned down SpinTech exhaust, Mod TPS, relocated AIT and 180 T-stat. I hope the extra spark will help. Any ideas?

MSD makes a couple of good ones. Blaster SS is what I am putting in mine. Also look into getting an Ignition amplifier like MSD 6 or Accel 300+. And don't forget to upgrade your plug wires too.

Check this site out, the blaster ss coil is $40 plus shipping.

I already have most of the kit, I just lack the MSD Tach Adapter. All in all I have spent almost $300 for the Ignition amplifier, coil, distributor cap and rotor, 8mm wires, and the tach adapter.

Accel makes a direct bolt-on for the Magnum motors. Goes in stock location, plugs right in.
Been using it for a couple years now. It's the same as used in their 300 ignition system. Look on Summit racing.

I looked up the Accel for you on Summit. Part # ACC-140021. $41.95. Says it's for '90-'97 but if the picture they have looks like yours I'm sure it will bolt in.

I did not need the MSD tach adapter on my 2001 5.9. Are you sure you do? Let me know.

Dakaty- In the tips and tricks section of speedtweaks.net website, they recommend it because the ignition amplifier sometimes triggers an error code in the PCM. Whether or not it is necessary, I am just playing it safe. I don't want any unneccesary FUBAR's happening...

The Accel model that is a direct stock replacement for a late model Dodge truck would be PN 140021. MSD also makes a direct stock replacement coil(PN8228). Initially I planned to do a simeple tune up since I just hit a little over 60,00. I ended up upgrading to a high performance ignition system which has a Mallory HiFire VI-A Ignition box(Similar to MSD 6A but it is Digital and cost less), MSD Blaster2, Accel 8.8mm wires, Autolite spark plugs, and MSD Tach Adaptor to get the whole sytem to work. Mallory makes a tach adapter for the box but I didn't want to special order one at the local parts store, hehe more like I couln't wait. The whole system cost me about $200. LOL saved money on plugs and wires. The results of upgrading the ignition system surprized me. In the past I had a hard time trying to get more power in the high end while at the same time keep power in the low end. The ignition system did that for me. Right now I'm trying to find the sweet spot on what gap I should set the spark plugs on.

Ripper where did you find the MSD coil? Truckperformanc.com won't get it till April 1st.I tried to look it up on summit racing they don't have it either for a 94 3.9. I want to try this one. I had the Accel bolt on it went bad after 3 months I sent it back they gave me a refund for it.

I don't think you would have a problem getting a MSD Blaster2, but as for the Stock replacement it is relatively new MSD product I don't really know if they are really out yet but I've seen it in the MSD Catalog. Maybe you could order it direct from MSD or try the local performance parts store. Call me old fashion but when I go shopping I like to actually see the product before I buy it.
