I'm having problems locating an aftermarket exhaust in stainless for my truck. The problem is that it has the 112" wheel base. After spending the day taking measurements both at the bone yard and under my 94 Dakota (5.2, 4x4, AT, Reg Cab, short box), I'm convinced that the stock muffler and tailpipe are identical between the short box/regular cab and short box/extended cab. As long as the aftermarket muffler is 15" long I think I can make this work.

Help me out here . . . what length are the mufflers on the various aftermarket kits? Hint: if all the original hangers line up the muffler should be 15" long.

I have a flowmaster catback on my 94 CC short box. The system is in summit racing and is marked for the 97-99 trucks. Unfortuantly at the time it was marked in the catalog as being for the genII trucks. By the time I realized it wasn't a direct fit I had the muffler cut out and it was no looking back from there. It's not all that hard to make it work, jou just have to be a bit creative with the rear hanger. I moved the rubber mount out further from the frame so it would fit, but this could also be acomplished by tacking on a longer hanger. I like the system and i'm glad I was stubborn and mad it work. Doesn't seem to be too many gen II trucks running around with
gen III exaust.
