Subject: 1/8th Mile Stats - From Sealy, TX Today

Message:

Well, it was definitely ONE EXCELLENT DAY! Made it to the 4th round and then lost by breaking put...that's ok with me...I lost to a 2000 'Vette.

There was also one of your typical "Rice Boy" out there in his Lowered Honda (Civic???) with a Purple Paint job, gutted interior, 4-point roll cage, huge Tach on the dash, stock muffler, and lot's of attitude...he ran a 11.8 in the 1/8th mile....BAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA.

Anyway...here's the stats:

BEST 1/8th Mile Time:

R/T: 0.6915 (Oops)
60': 2.2760
330': 6.4270
1/8 et: 9.910
1.8 mph: 70.66

That's with the Powerdyne and a stock V8 Throttle Body. I couldn't get the 48mm Billet TB in time. I shaved 3-tenths off of my old best in the 1/8 mile! (That's mainly due to the 9# pulley on the Supercharger though.)

If anyone wonders what that is in comparison to a V8 Dakota...they run about a 9.85 - 9.90 in the 1/8th mile as well. Modified, about a 9.3-9.6 in the 1/8th mile.

Not bad for how she's built though. :)

At minimum: A stock 68mm TB from a 2001 4.7L (about $160), a Z-Tube w/K&N, and a less restrictive muffler.

Preferred: Z-Tube, Modified 68mm TB (Hughes Engines, Flometrics, QuickD), A good Cat-Back system (Dynomax is my preference), 3.90:1 gears.

Sorry guys I did not make myself clear.I put 50000 business mi a year on my truck and it must be dependable,I am not much of a mech.I am afraid to modify my dak,I get my kicks out of reading about your adventures in truck mods.Is running a stock truck unusual at the strip?I thought you could run anything and they bracket your time or something?Thats the trouble with these Daks,I have had lots of 4x4s but this is the first one I have wanted to drag race with!!

Russ, how long do you hold onto vehicles putting that kind of mileage on them? My truck has 79,000 and is 6 years old.

Kevin I try to get 4 years out of a vehicle,it is a lot of hwy miles and they do not seem to hurt the truck much. The drivers seat and tires are all that seem to wear out.

Justin, how are you controlling the "Check Engine" light (MIL) without any cats? OBD-II systems will trip codes (and the light) if there's no cat present.

Justin - Is that 204hp at rear wheels I dont suppose there is an accurate way to compare to 235hp advertised? You are damn right that is not bad, after all it is a 4x4 with a 1500 lb payload not a mustang!

Justin, many people have tried that and all have seen the same problem with the OBD-II systems...check engine light.

The front O2 checks the mixture before the cat and the rearward O2 dbl-checks it as well. If both are reading the same thing, you will trip a light.

The OBD-II systems aren't fooled that easily.

i have a 2000 dodge Dak' with gibson headers, duel exshaust, TB spacer, K&N Ram Air, Hurst short shifter, one of those little tornado things, and soon to be putting a 5.7 HEMI in it. im running about 280HP and 370ft lbs Tor. The last race i was in before getting deployed was with a kid in a 98 Mustang GT and i burnt him. Think he just sucked at driving. But i havent taken it to the track sense all the upgrades but i want to know what the stock 1/4 mile is for the 2000 Dak Sport.
