This is pretty much the thoughts I've had since I remember nitrous becoming a big part of racing... but now I'm starting to access the real option of goin with nitrous. Right now I cannot afford to go with a Supercharger, even as much as I'd like to.... but I will eventually. On a stock R/T engine... what all needs to be done ? There are all kinds of questions that I could consider asking, but I figure I'd let whoever replies point me in the right way... like, will I need a performance fuel pump ? if they dont sell nitrous in my area, do you order it somehow ? I'm looking at the kit from Speedtweaks 'Nitrous Express'.. that's what you are using right Intense ? Suggestions ? Any help, I'd really appreciate it..

You won't need a new fuel pump right off the bat, although, you should pick up a fuel pressure regulator to prevent any lean conditions. If they don't sell nitrous in your area how do you plan to get your bottle filled? If you can't fill the bottle there will be no spray, my good man

Good luck!

I agree with Intense, if we bought our sh!t, installed our sh!t, then how is it cheating? They make all kinds of superchargers and turbos for v8s. People put those on their engine, does that make them cheaters too? The only people cheating is the people that b!tch about it. If I want to spend the money to beef up my truck, that is my business. That does not make me a wannabe, it makes me a bored person that wants to see his sh!t run faster than stock, just like anyone else on this forum that does mods to their truck, so all of you people that don't know sh!t from sh!t, I have a middle finger for you...

Kris

P.S. To anyone that is interested, I am going to guesstimate how my 0-60 times are and my 1/4 times. I might try going to Ennis tonight, but I am not sure.

Squirting a juice that causes a reaction in your engine that isn't a natrual thing is cheating. Can you explain to me a reason why steroids in body building competition isn't cheating? Beefing up your body through a drug and squirting juice in your truck to beef it up w/ out changing out the parts that naturally make power is cheating...at least in my book.

I'm not running a SC or NOS, but I remember seeing this bumper sticker in my younger days:

Regardless, NOS is a good bang for the buck but me thinks a SC is probably a better mod over time.

Yeah you can BUY steroids and use em to make you look tough and you can BUY nitrous to make your truck as fast as the others...but don't you think its sort of an easy short cut to being fast? When most guys buy parts that make it fast naturally aspirated? It's cheating to me too. I agree w/ Need.

hmm let me see ,,, nitrous makes combustion better & stronger,, and a blower forces air in the combustion chamber to make combustion better & stronger ;)

NO2 is just a purer consentrater form of air(more oxygen)
Blower just forces more air(more oxygen)

Sounds like they do the same thing to me. Correct me if i'm wrong(but i'll prob not listen) ;)

SC works off the natural air and forces it in...Nitrous is mixed w/ the air and fuel and it combusts, 2 totally different things. Yes they both make alot of power but doing different tasks.

So you're saying the oxygen in the air you're forcing in isn't igniting?lol
Same thing NO2 ((( 2 O to 1 N )))is a GAS(air!!!)with more OXYGEN content than REGULAR air that a blower forces in.

air is mainly made of N about 70% then O around 29%
Fuel can't burn w/o oxygen

Need any more schoolin come ask ;) j/k

Whatever the scientific crap is...point is you can either swap out parts w/ performance parts or you can take the chicken sh!t way out and use the funny gas and make more power than the engine is truly capable of making. Now tell me how THAT is good for the engine.

hehe.....intense, I wont get up on my soapbox.....

I personally dont mind NOS, or turbos, or superchargers.....I dont use them, I beleive in creating my power through the engine. It takes more knowledge, and money, but is way more satisfying! Nitrous is the most inexpesive way to create horses, I have been racing for years, and almost everyone I raced used NOS and lied about it. I have used it a couple of times, but I had detonation problems....probably cuz I was trying to use it with a 12 to 1 compression ratio...lol
I blew up that motor and gave it up....

Intense isnt lieing about it, it is in plain view, so I dont have problem with it. What I do have problems with are the guys hiding tanks in frame rails, in doors, and fenders....ect. Those guys can go to hell...I have raced guys who swore up and down their cars didnt have nos and they were taking me by 1/10th of a second, when I knew I had more engine than them. Come to find out they had a cheater system, railed under the intake manifold....

Superchargers and turbos are too eccentric for me, they cost too much, by the time you purchase them you could have a new set of trick heads and cam that would produce just as much power...(on a stock engine)...Dont get me wrong there are twin turbo and supercharged egines pumping out 8-900 horses...It is personal preference, i guess...it was always more of a challenge to go naturally aspirated...so thats why I went that way...sounds much better producing 800 horses on all motor, than 800 horses on NOS....
Danny

fyi....I wont be taking my camaro out this weekend, it is supposed to rain, but maybe next weekend....

Couldn't have said it better Danny. Everyone asks me why I don't have nitrous or a SC and I tell em I'm trying to get as much out of my engine w/o all that so if I beat someone they don't used that as the excuse. I find everyone using the Lighting's SC as an excuse for why it is so fast. Makes you feel better to know when you get your engine running as fast as a lightning and U dont' have to say you used nitrous or a SC.

i will admitt i have nitrous... hell... i will admitt it's the biggest reason i can get my sixer down the track! It is cheap and easy fix for displacement anemia! i won't keep it forever because i am in the process of buying a turbo and fabbin' me up a setup for it.

i agree... if you can't admitt to it you shouldn't be using it. that's when you haven't got a pair.
