Ok, i am really debating whether to go big or fast. About a month ago i was for sure going big with a 3" lift, but now after reading these boards for about a month, i really don't know what to do. I have a 2X4 and most people say if its 4X4 go big, if its 2X4 go fast. I really like the look of a big truck, but at the same time i always wish i could keep up with those damn fast cars. Maybe some of you guys could convince me of which way i should go. Please help!!

I trashed my last first and only truck...bronco,
off roaded almost every weekend, broke drive
shaft, rear axle, bent wheels, etc....off roading
is too harsh on the truck.

my truck pre dakota was a 98 s-10 lowerd 4"
and 5" in rear, loved it, but too small, and
gutless.

bought the dak, much bigger than the s-10,
lowered it 3-6, am trying as many mods as
possible for mo' speed! love to cruise, love
the extra ummph when it's needed (ie: GT 5.0
pulls up and revs...bye bye stang!)

just bad for speeding tickets!

I didn't know if both were possible. And also, i don't plan on lowering it at all, no offense to anyone, but i don't like the way lowered trucks look very much. Although, i for some reason like intenses a lot.

blackdak00,

I went the big AND fast route. I dont know if Im totally satisfied with it or not. I keep thinking that i could had it faster or bigger if i wouldve went with one or the other. The good thing is that people dont expect anything when they see a lifted truck. Or if they here about it then they dont think that it is lifted until they see it. Overall I would say that im glad ive chose the route i did. But when i go to the track I make sure to put the stock 31/10.50's back on instead of the 33/12.50's . Its amazing how much a difference a tire makes. But oh how it feels good to wave bye bye to mustang and camaro owners at the red lights :-).

hey blackdak00,

i have had my truck lifted and lowered... my lift kit was a fabtech 2" spring in front with shackles in the rear... i put 30" tires on it (could fit 31"s but bought them before the lift). it was real fun then but i always took it off roading and that trash... after breaking a few things i figured lowering was the best way to keep me out of the mud... i, myself, enjoy the tight handling and sleekness of my truck now.

here are some pictures of my truck if ya wanna look... keep going there because i will be adding more soon;

Where did u guys start with your trucks. I was thinking maybe air intake, headers, and then i don't know what next.

Intense, I don't know what you mean. What should i do to it? You might have to explain it to me because i've never worked on an engine before and I don't know what alot of stuff is, how it works, and what it does.

With the 3.9 you will never be fast unless you do the mods that IntenseDak has done. By saying fast I mean FAST.

I just bought a 2002 3.9L, reg. cab, 5-spd SXT and I'd like it to be as fast as I can get it. I thought about lowering it, but I like sitting a little higher than cars and being able to see around SUVs and mom-mobiles. I was originally going to purchase a Toyota Tacoma PreRunner, but then I came to my senses after taking a Dakota for a test drive. =)

So far all I've done is drop in a K&N filter, installed the single Swept Side Gibson cat back exhaust and put an Extang tonneau on it. I had already planned on doing a lot of what Intense has done to his Dakota. (with the exception of the nitrous) =)

This is my first truck and I love it. Everytime I see it I envision what I'm going to do next. =)
