Should a 180 or 160 thermostat be used in a s/c 5.9? this is for Texas weather, but im not sure if thats still too cool. thanks for any help.

Yep for a daily driver 160 is too cool. Now if its a hot rod that sits in the garage only for the track then 160 would be appropriate. The magnums run efficiently at 180.
