read the thread intensedak93 posted on the v6 forum. he said he beat a new z-28 in the 1/8. personally i think there is know way in hell a modded v6 (v8 for that matter) could pull a z-28! but ney anything is possible. But sh@# z-28s run on a average 13.5 stock. (lets say some are faster some are slower, and some people dont know how to drive). But come on !

Why the hell would you do all those mods on a V6????? Dont get me wrong it is neat, but if you were looking to race it is impractical. V6's, especially mopar V6's are very weak by nature. I dont deny you could have taken a Z28 off the line, they get horrible traction, especially in the 8th mile range, their 60 foot times suck because of this....unless the driver is good. If you are looking to race their is no substitute for cubic inches,NOT even NOS!!

i have a V6.....it's what i have to work with. i bought the truck when i was 18 and could barely make the payments at $7 a hour. It's pretty neat to have a V6 that beats a lot of v8 out there. i would like to find out where you got your "mopar v6s are weak by nature".....bernd's sixer finally turned over at 60,000 miles because he was running 10 pounds of boost AND a 40 shot of nitrous. and i believe that the only reason his bolt hole cracked was because the engine got too hot when his gasket blew.
please don't tell me what i am doing isn't practical. it's what i like doing.
that Z28 had better traction than i did....i spun my slicks into second gear.
lastly....wanna race?

I believe the reason bernd does all that to his v6 is to be different. I think its bad ass what they do with six cylinders. Not to mention the look and the v8 guys face when he finds out he was beat by a 6 cylinder pick -up truck, its priceless!

First of all, I think it is cool to try to make any vehicle faster. Be it a V8, V6 or a 4. The faster you can make it the better! Also, I do understand that not everybody can afford a V8 (not everybody wants one for that matter also).
With that said, I think it is funny when somebody brags about being faster with less cylinders. I have a V8, and if I get beat by a V6 or 4 cylinder, I wouldn't get pissed because they have a smaller engine. All that it would mean is that they put more money into their engines than I did, and that being the case, they deserve to win.
In stock form, I don't think we have to talk about which is faster...
BTW: Good job beating the Z28 IntenseDak93!

what one does with his own stuff is his own business....personally, i think its cool as hell that someone finds something they enjoy doing. i think its bad ass that 2pnt5ltrluv is souping up his 4-banger to make it what he wants....intensedak39's truck sounds awesome, and i could keep going with other gals/guys and what they do. what im trying to say is....dont question why someone does something to his ride...just take care of your business.....and intense, keep kicking ass!

well.....i appreciate it everyone. Thanx a bunch. I want a turbo...mainly because my last car was a turbo (275+Hp shelby charger). With those $310.09 payments it's hard to save money since I have moved out of my parents.
I agree completely Mills....I live pretty close to that guy and want to see his four banger....those are always so fun.....

No offense, I come from a different mindset, My RT is my daily driver...my RACECAR is my 1970 camaro...427 big block(875 horses)...Two diferent worlds....I started similiar to you with a straight 6 56 chevy, and worked my way up to big blocks. I tried everything I could to get that straight 6 to compete with the v8's, with no luck, so I planted a 454 big block into the 56 and since then I have never strayed away from racing big blocks.
You are working what you have and I respect that, but I predict you will eventually go V8, one way or another, you probably cannot offord the money involved racing a v6, I have freinds who race chevy v6's and as a general rule they spend twice as much money as I do.It is a common joke between us, they say they can compete with any v8, and I try to get them to the track, and they never show.
And mopar v6's have the weakest rods, main caps, and wrist pins out of all the v6's, especially the late model ones, chevy's v6's are not much better. If your pushing as much power out of your v6 as you say, I would be interested in seeing how long it actually lasts you....I may be wrong.
I sometimes take it as an insult when these guys in honda preludes with 4 inch exaust pull up to me in my camaro and want to race. Sometimes I forget I used to be like that to, wanting to race the big boys. In my camaro, I havent found but maybe a couple people worthy of racing, so it is my mindset, one day you will be there to. I should not have criticized you, we are both racers.

Ill try not to get too carried away on this one like I did the GN post... but umm... I think a Z28 runs more mid to low 14s stock... I think your thinking of the SS which runs anywhere from low to high 13's. Still the low 14's or not Comendable work! If you managed to down a Z28 in a dak6.

dan, i don't know if you are saying that about V6s because of personal experience or just because you have to dignify your V8. And after my truck is payed off I do plan on a V8 conversion because i have never had one and would like to make a carbed 360 that isn't streetable. But for right now I will work with what I got and frankly i think i am doing great.

i think that those times you read about in mags are professional drivers....most people at this track aren't. So they really don't pull 13s. The 2000 Z28 was rated at 305 horsepower.....The SS was 320. I think the newer ones get 5 more horsepower. SLP is the company that designed the SS package for the Z28 and it is an aftermarket company for all GM products (maybe not trucks, though). My mom has a 2000 Z28 fully loaded with an auto and 2.73 gears. Since she has had it my dad has purchased the following items from SLP (i know this isn't a f-body sight but this is one kick @ss car); ultra Z hood, panhard bar, lower control arms, springs, tower bar, X member (subframe), 3 inch big bore exhaust (no muffler), y-pipe, granitelli MAF, granitelli airbox, k&n, and taylor wires,hypertech programmer. This car dynoed 307 hp at the wheels before the exhaust and programmer so now it has more....pretty cool...but my dad has never run it becuase of the gearing...

Intense: I wasn't reffering to you about the bragging. It is just that some people seem to think that just because one truck has a bigger engine than the other, it should be faster. As most of us know, that isn't always the case.
Another subject... $17k invested on the truck??? Man, you got to start doing my shopping for me!:-)
It would be interesting to see how fast your truck would be with the turbo.

it's really not the shopping... it's the install.
i have installed everything on my truck except for the muffler. Plus some of the items i asked for for christmas (coilover kit, springs) but they were only $280 total. The biggest performance investment was probably my nitrous, $580. In that price i am not including my apperance mods like hood and roll pan. You might say the roll pan lightened my rearend but it isn't even on anymore because i was hit and it was knocked off. Besides, i would probably do better with the stock bumper... i need some weight on my @ss end.

I dont have to justify v8's they do it themselves, if v6's were REALLY that special you would see more people racing them, The fact of the matter is, once you get serious, you WILL get cubic inches, that is the way it is...and yes I have been down that road, so I speak from experience. I understand you guys are young and do not have lots of money, some of you probably had mommy and daddy paying for your vehicles, so I understand where you are coming from. So I dont criticize you for that, my initial comment was wrong,I had said it with little malace and forethought.
As for the rest.
Naturally aspirated engines.....I THOUGHT thats what we were speaking of! You will NEVER find a naturally aspirated V6 match a naturally aspirated V8 in horses or Torque, providing the same mods. Hell, do you realize how much horsepower is in a twin turbo V8 setup??? The supra you are refering to is twin turbo, I bet. Take the turbos off and see how limp it is! And by the way Vipers are all engine, and no traction, if they could get all that torque on the pavement they would be untouchable!
LOL you must be in high school Super bee, and I assume you DONT have a super bee, if you do why dont you put a v6 in it, if you like them so much?...LOL
I see some of you guys are in Texas? Houston? Dallas? I am more of a action type of guy, why dont we put words aside, I bring out my camaro, you guys bring whatever you got. See how well you can do against my NATURALLY ASPIRATED, made IN America, big block, camaro....I run anything you got, I eat those twin turbo supras for lunch, they cant stay up, I have only seen one that can keep up with me and he has over 50,000 dollars in it.
