Is 72 too much?

Hmmm, did Bruce and folks fix the idle problem with the 70mm TB?

If so, what about us folks who jumped on the initial buy of this 70mm TB...is there a retro fix for FREE!

better flow, less restrictive, adds more to the
inside diameter of the TB

I have the same ? about the idling issue. I had to take mine off because it kept revving when I would stop at a red light, and everyone thought I was trying to race them!! Any info would be great on this issue though.

I too had an idle problem with my 70MM. Try adjusting the TPS voltage and see if that doesn't help, set it to ~ 7.2 mv.

My initial reading was 2.7 mv and after removing the brass bushings, the most I could ger was 4.8 mv. Alto it's not 7+, it sure made a difference, NO MORE SURGING!!! Nice even idle at all times..

Hmmm, swore I added a reply to this, oh well...

smittyt2: There are two idle issues I have (as well as seen previously posted by other DAK owners)

1)Coming home after my commute, shift into park, the truck revs to 1100 RPM and won't kick down, OR, shift into park, gun it, and it revs up to and sticks at 1100 RPM.

2) Getting off a highway exit and coming to a stop light, while sitting there in DRIVE, the idle flucuates between 400 to 700 RPM, feels like it's gonna stall

Both above happen with or without the defroster being run.

***For Bruce and Bernd, what free retro-fix is there for these problems and how do we get ahold of it?

Thanks...

Hi Keith, my TPS reading was .67 (6.7 depending on the meter setting)...did feel the need for any tweaking...still have the two idle problems.

Mace,

Sorry to hear that. Adjusting the TPS really cleaned mine up. It used to SURGE like yours and was very slow returning to normal after gunning it. Just shutting it off and restarting would clear things up, until the next time. Mine was worse when cold and before the computer totally re-learned after a reset.

I have not had any issues, none, after setting the TPS voltage, it even removed the slight hesitation upon gunning a colder engine.

I have the same problem (400-700 idle) with the stock 65mm. I first noticed it around 35K miles. Now with 50mm still have the problem but is has not worsened. Dealer says the TB just needs a good cleaning. They charge $159 for this service. Think speedtweeks gives instructions in tips and trick section (Free). Try Cleaning and maybe reset the PCM.

Back to the First ??
ANyone get big gains with 70mm?
