Word is Chrysler will take the 4.7 and chop of two cylinders exactly like the 3.9 was compared to the 5.2.

I almost died when I read the sticker on a 4.7 truck. It claimed 25 mpg and the v6 next to it 24 mpg. Same model.

I take it you're referring to the 200HP 3.7L V6?

I've seen the 3.7l at Chicago Auto Show. It looks just like the 4.7l with the back two holes
missing. All other parts look to be the same except for maybe TB.

Hello boys...I don't think you are going to be happy with the 3.7L engine in a Dakota or Ram.I have been driving them at work {the new Jeep Liberty plant}and,so far, they don't have the BALL'S to haul the heavy truck's down the road very quickly, not to say it will not be a good engine,it just needs more HP.They need to pull a rabbet out of the hat on this one! What till you see a 4.7 or 3.7 intake, they are made of some kind of fricking plastic, weight about one lb.The new Jeep Liberty will start full production Monday 4-2-01.The Liberty is one state of the art ride, high tech all the way!Bad to the bone. They use the same auto trans as the 4.7's...I think you should hang on to your 3.9's for know.

Hey Bob, remember what I said about the 3.7L a while ago (on another thread)? "...the 3.7L has some performance problems." ;)

Jeff, yes...I do have a Powerdyne Supercharger on my 3.9L V6...running 10# boost as well.

Bernd...the proto types had exhaust manifold problem's,I think the production exhaust manifold look very restrictive, and it has a very large muffler...the HotRod people will take care of that.

Composite intake manifolds have major advantages over aluminum in many applicaitons. They are reliable ( GM's sold millions on their 3.8 V6s ), weigh less, have less heat transfer for cooler intake air, are MUCH smoother inside than cast aluminum for better flow, and they're cheaper ( from the factory anyway ). They may be more difficult to port - I never tried to carve one of mine - but being smoother and molded more accurately to begin with, porting may be less important.
