Message:
Finally installed my new RT wheels, and Nitto 450's 275/50/17's on Saturday. Man do they look sweet.
Especially after the Hotchkis 2/3 drop kit I installed back in December. The wheels/tires really made a huge difference in looks, and handling.
I got an awesome deal on the RT wheels from the dealer, $500, with a $25 rebate, so cost was only $475 for (4) 17"x9" RT wheels!!! Tires where $130 each, plus mounting/balancing ($600 total).
The Hotchkis kit cost me about $550 with installation.

My 15"x8" rims with 275/60/15 Firehawk SS20 are for sale now, only 5k miles on the tires.
Tires cost me $300 alone.

Hey Matt-
I was wondering where you bought your tires and hotchkis suspension from? Online or a local dealer? Where you from? Where did you get the 2/3 drop installed at?

I believe he used just the springs for 550.00 and not the swaybars.. I installed the Hotchkis springs front and rear on my 2K Dak also then the RT wheels, along with the Nitto tires, and WOW! What a difference, I fell in love with the looks, the handling is awsome. I get so many thumbs up when I drive my 2K DAK, Club Cab, 4.7 auto, 3;55 posi, white with the Dak and slt badges off, and I installed the RT tailgate decal, looks like a real RT now. BAD TO THE BONE!

Why did you put an R/T sticker on there? Why not make a 4.7L sticker and put that on there?! Don't be ashamed of your 4.7!

I am not ashamed, I just thought since the Dak looked like an RT now, and I like the RT decal I would go with it, heck I am glad to have the 4.7 the 360 isnt much more HP just more torque, but I have done some mods so i believe I hit the 255 HP mark.. Besides my Dak still sports the chrome bumpers and grill. No RT's came that way, but not many people know that. Dodge forever.

Did'nt mean to imply I had the hotchkis "kit", as in with Sway bars too!! Those sway bars cost more than the springs !! I just got the front and rear springs. Fronts came from Randy Pile , and the rears came from Summit. The wheels came from a Dealer here in Virginia. I'm trying to find out if that price is good for anyone, and I'll pass on his name and number. It was an incredible deal!! Mopar parts has a $25 rebate going on right now too! The tires came from http://www.discounttiredirect.com
They were $135 plus shipping (I think $9 each?)But the best thing about the company is they have a 90 days to pay, no interest deal.
I'm using Doetch tech shocks front and rear.
My front coil springs are V-6 springs.
One word of caution, the 275/50's will nick the inner edge of the fender flare under hard load. Like a big dip in the road. has done it twice already. Hopefully a better shock up front will cure this. I installed the rear springs myself, and I had a front end/spring shop install the coil springs up front. They charged me $125 for the install AND a front end alignment. The rear spring install was a 6 hr job if you don't have a lift, i don't ;). I used about 4 jack stands, two floor jacks, and air tools. If you do one side at a time it is'nt bad, but I had to take my springs to another shop to have the old Caltrac bushings removed, and pressed into my new springs. So I removed both springs at once to save a trip.

Here's the deal on the RT rims. I got the price through DakotaUSA. If you join http://www.dakotausa.com you can get the special pricing of $125 per wheel. These are BRAND NEW MOPAR Parts. NOT Reproductions. They come right from the Dealership, center caps included.
If you get them soon you can get a $25 rebate from Mopar (which will pay for the DakotaUSA membership) Its a great deal !

Would like to know if you got any pics of the install. I am thinking of getting the Hotchkis kit on my 2K V6 Reg Cab. Exactly how low did it drop the truck. How is your ride Ive heard the Hotckiss kit will give you a much stiffer ride. Thanks

Sure, I've got pictures. Whats your email addy?
Yes it rides a lot stiffer, but you have to make the ride stiffer so the suspension will not bottom out. Total drop was really about 2.5" in front and 3.5" in the rear.

I did the spring labor myself, it took me 2 hrs to do the rears. and 2 hrs front. You need to only have 1/2 - 9/16 " gap between the lwr control arm bump stops and frame, or your tires will rub on bottom of fenders during a harsh preload. It took me some time to do this, I purchased the front bump stops from Hotchkis and installed them, I had to add washers to shim them up. But removing the stock bumps was a pain, Had to drill out the rivets somewhat and take a rivet gun and chisel to them to shear them off,. But the results with the springs is Excellent, well worth the money..

Kevster, thanks for the tip. I'll give that a try this weekend. I'm not sure if the front end shop installed the new bumpstops or not? I thought they did? Either way I'll shim them some.

Thanks!
Matt
