what's the performance and setup difference between an intercooler and an aftercooler? which one's easier? which one's cheaper? which one drops the temperature the most? which one provides the least amount of loss in boost pressure? thanks for the help

there are really all aftercoolers...

They cool the air charge after compression...

Some call them intercoolers because the are in between the compressor and the engine....

Neither are easy or cheap...You can get more efficiency from an air/liquid intercooler adn it's smaller and placement is easier, but you have to have the pump and reservior and heat exchanger for it, too...

IF you have the space, an air/air intercooler will also work fine...

If you match up the intercooler for the CFM will be produced under boost, then you would most likely lose about 1psi or less...
