I was taking a look at those new 20"r/t rims on speedtweaks and It got me wondering. what would 20" rims do to mpg? speed? towing? acceleration? ride comfort? I know they look damn good but what would they do to my performance?

20" Are for show in my book, not for everyday driving.. save your money and or go with 17 or 18 " wheels instead. you will be glad you did. tires for the 20" wheels BIG BUCKS.

well if you are talking about teh R/T wheels, i hear the 17's are heavy as it is. the 20's should be really heavy.
im running a 255/35/20 and since the tire is shorter than my stock 215/75/15's it brings my gear ratio from 3.55 to 3.64. so my aceleration is a little better than stock.

as far as ride goes, i can feel every crack in the road, (actuall its not that much worse than when i had a 245/45/17) but the cornering ability cant be beat. it just sticks in the corners!

if you run a small tire be care full of potholes! i have bent 2 rims already. the R/T will probably be stronger than my billet aluminum rims though.

i wouldnt tow with them, because you will overload the tire and it could fail. (depending on what size you go with)

mpg stays about the same

I would bet the 20's hurt every performance catagory you could measure over the 17's. Maybe braking and cornering would be better then on the stock Goodyears, but switch to some better tires on the 17's and they'd be pretty equal there as well. That said, those 20's look sweet, an I'd love to have a set!

i had BFG comp TA's on my 17's and now i have michelin XZT-Z4's and can tell the differance in the corners. straight line seems to be the same (didnt do a comparison on a track)

just get what ever rim you want to make it look good on the street, and when you go to the track just put your stocks on with a sticky tire.

so if i was gonna do some towing it would make sense to keep my stock 16" rims instead of selling them to buffer the costs. I'm not sure if i'm gonna get the dubs or not but if i do it won't be for another year or so cuz i got about that much left in my tires now. I wanted the 17" R/T's but they don't look so hot now that Ive seen the 20"s.

well it depends on your driving habits. if you like to drive agressive and want the best wheel/tire for cornering and dont mind looking out for potholes, or have a little stiffer ride go with the 20's. (tires cost a grip also)

if you drive "normal", you might want to just get the 17's or some aftermarket 18's. tires are WAY cheaper, you can run a bigger side wall, so you get a better ride and dont have to watch out for bad spots in the road.

either way id keep your stocks, just in case.
