I have a 99' rt with a powerdyne sc. My question is, where do the red, orange, and white wires go? i heard that the white goes on the black neg. coil wire, while the orange goes to the neg terminal, and the red goes to the pos. terminal along with the original green wire. Well, when i hooked it up like this, it didnt start. any ideas? bad ground? wrong wires? any help is appreciated.

Red goes to orignal Pos. coil wire, Orange goes to the positive side of the coil, and White geos to orignal coil Neg.

The White wire goes to the orignal coil neg. The Black wire goes to the neg. side of the coil, this is the only wire to make electrical contact with the coil negitive terminal.

Yes, i have done everything just as you said it, and still it cranks without actually starting. I had the red on the green/orange wire, while the msd orange went to the positive terminal. Then the white connected to original neg. black wire, while the msd black wire went to the neg, side of the coil. Here's the weird part. when i got the msd unit off ebay with my s/c, the black wire was not in the loom with the rest of the wires, and it had a circular terminal on the end. It was also considerably shorter than the rest. Any ideas on what im doing wrong. (also, this is the universal btm.... not the 6a or anything) any help is appreciated. thanks.

It sounds like the black wire is the ground wire that attachs either to the battery negative terminal or a direct metal ground source.

Like Mark said above, MSD has a good web site with all kind of diagrams that you can look at/print. If that doesn't work, contact MSD Techs. You may have a special application with the s/c.

What is the part number on the BTM? MSD makes three BTMs one for MSD Ignition systems, one for stock ignition systems and The 6BTM(ignition system). There is a difference. I have MSD PN 8762 for the MSD ignition system. I am happy to help or you could contact MSD at (915)857-5200.

I have the universal btm... whether its for stock ignition or not, i dont know. I called msd and they couldnt help, as for the diagrams, they dont help either. I have two looms, one with red, white, orange, and black. The black was originally short with a circular end( im guessing for a ground bolt) the other is a two wire connection that looks like its for something specific ( maybe an msd unit). Any way i try hooking it up, there is no ignition. Is it possible the box is bad, or is it the wiring?

The good news is I think you have the BTM for stock ignition systems, because mine has a yellow instead of orange wire. The bad news is I don't have the diagram for that box. I will see if I can find a diagram, but i can't promise anything.

Ok, this is getting really frustrated.... trying to hook it up and the pinging. I have tried everything, but almost everyone i talk to seems to have a different way to hook this system up. I am positive this is the msd btm for stock ignitions. It has the green and violet connector loom, and the white, orange, and red loom, with a black ground wire. If anybody knows where these wires go exacly, please please please write back how to do it. I have at least 6 different scematics on how to do it, along with 4 different opinions. Thanks for the help,

chris
