No. That hose takes filtered air from inside the air filter, and carries it INTO the crankcase, thats why it runs from INSIDE the air filter and down into the crankcase. You can eliminate the hose by just making that whole area become its own filter with the K&N filter. I will see if that part number is stamped on my filter, but I doubt it is, but tomorrow I'll see what's there. Its oily and grimy.

hehehe
i found an eldebrock air cleaner than has

"The 10" and 14" models have knock-outs in the air cleaner base and include an adapter for crankcase ventilation"

so im going to see how much these are and compare to a K&N air cleaner, after that and i find how damn expensive they are going to be ill check on a Mr Gasket

lol
$40 for filter so i dont want to spend $130 on the air cleaner

You're in luck today. I measured my aluminum air filter setup and yes its 14" in diameter. Also, the crankcase filter says "K020A4" on the top of it. I hope its an actual part number! I would do a special order from a local parts place and make sure to verify with them that its a crankcase filter.

If you decide to get this air filter setup, I would consider one of the K&N filters that are an even diameter, like 14". They make a new top filter that sits right on top, drawing in even more air. The K&N filter I have is an odd-sized, probably 12.5" or something like that. I cannot get one of the top filters as they dont fit mine. But I'm still happy with it.

i think i might go with the edelbrock
cheaper, then after 3000 miles or so ill swap out the edelbrock filter for a K&N, with the edelbrock it comes with the crankcase filter adapter so i will be saving money on the crank case filter and the spendy K&N air cleanermight consider one of them top filters in the future, but for now im going with just the edelbrock, also, your in cal right so you dont need to worry about the cold/warm air intake sensor/baffle thing do you
i do
grrrrr
depending on how it runs in thw wonter i might put the old air cleaner back on

oh and on the stock air snorkle there is a side tube going off to an electronics box so i might leave the stock hose in for that purpose and so supply a semi direct airflow into the new air cleaner

ok, this is what i found out on the crank case filter

the crank case filter takes all the air and gas mixture from the CC that has slipped past the cylinders and the rings and gotten down into the CC, it then sends its back up through the air intake to be reburned through the engine due to some of the gasses and fumes may be harmful to the enviroment, and on mine when i leave the hose open to the air out comes some crap that smells like exhaust, this may be due to the fact that the filter may be bad, but i swear stuff comes out of there even when i rev the engine, but i could be wrong on all this

Well I've been wrong before. I will take a look at my Chrysler Dakota manual and see if it says anything on that...

but when i leave the tube open out comes fumes that smell like exhaust
do you ever smell exhaust when you are idling at a stop sign or whatever, or does the K&N CC filter take care of that
