We should send in lots and lots of requests for the new PVO division to get ahold of our Daks. Why make the Ram the fastest sport truck ever when Daks have more style!!!

Why? It's more cost effective to cut and paste. A V10 might fit into a Dakota, but the engine bay has to be cut to fit. Stuffing a V10 into a Dakota will cause the Dakota to have a bad crash rating. Just imagine that V10 being push threw the firewall and into your legs. Ok, if not a V10 then a 330hp 5.7L uh, well that's still 180hp less. Slap a supercharger on it? Maybe another 100hp max? 430hp, sounds better. But would it pass emissions? A 430Hp Dakota could take a 500hp ram.

Lets say the Dak weighs in at 4100lbs that's still 900'lbs less than the Ram or 90hp worth of weight. So this would put the Dakota into a better weight to hp ratio. 20hp more and less frontal area to push :) Can we say, mid to low 12's :)

So they have to mod the truck, they have the ability to do things like that, unlike most of the Dak enthusiasts. Of course the Dak could have a better power:weight ratio than the Ram SRT-10, its not a 1/2 truck. But my point is that they chose the truck that is massive and looks no where near as good as a streamlined R/T.

Im just hoping they get that 5.7 out on the market soon, so i can buy a crate version. I really like the body style of the current daks, and i hope they dont change too much (all tho, they must, being that this is the 5th year of the body style). My goal is to take a 5.7 and relace my 4.7 with it. All in the never ending search for speed... :)

Is the 5.7 almost the same as the 4.7 (only with a larger displacment)? Because i know that people with the 4.7 can keep up well w/ the 5.9s, if they increse the displacment...man that would be a kicking engine!

The 5.7 is almost thge same, but way better. It's a lot more then just the extra liter. It has true Hemi heads, with opposed valves. It actually is closer to the 5.9 then the 4.7 in that it has a center camshaft and pushrod operated overhead valves. It does make a good 100 hp more then the 5.9 and get 1.5 MPG better doing it. The big difference is in how much toruqe it makes. It supposedly makes 300 ft-lbs at only 1000 rpm doesn't peak untill 4000 rpm. It makes as much torque at 1500 rpm as the 5.9 does at it's 3200 rpm peak! It's definetaly sweet and in something as small as the current Dakota it could give that new SRT Ram a run for it's money even without a lot of tweaking from the PVO team, especially if it could get the viper 6-speed as well.

www.car-truck.com has had probably 5 or 6 articles on the 5.7 in the buzz section. That guy really knows what he's talking about concerning future products from Dodge and has some great insider sources. I have been reading the buzz everyday for the last year and he is always first with the latest news and highly accurate when compared to the final products that hit the streets. Just search "5.7 hemi" or something similar.
