 Subject: Third gear missing.

I have a 2000 dakota 4.7 5 speed w/ 3.92 slp. I was wondering if anybody had problems with their third gear? I took it in and the dealer replaced the entire third gear. ITs poping out of third when shifting. if Im at a dead stop, and put it in third. when i go to let out the clutch, its popping out of third. any ideas what the HELL's wrong!!! Or has anybody had any other problems?

If you read the manual it tells you NOT to start out in 3rd.

sounds like a shift detent is broken. That is part of what holds the trans in gear. About the only thing left if they replaced the syncros and gear.

Mine did the same thing at about 32000 miles dealer replaced the whole trans. said some times you get a bad one?
