I have a 2001 quadcab with auto and 3.9. I installed a cold air intake &. K&N filter. I was told I should disconnect the battery to reset the computer. Any truth to this and what difference does it make. One more quick question if I may.My boat weighs 1500 lbs. Do I tow with OD on or off. Thanks in advance

No need to reset the Computer

Tow with the OD off

Now you need a DynoMax Muffler in place of the stock one !

Dan Thanks for the info on my computer and overdrive. I tried the Dynomax but the noise in the cab was too much. I also tried the Magnaflow but it sounded tinny so I'll stay with oem. Just replacing the intake made a big difference in throttle response tho.

LEW

which DynoMax did you try ?

I didn't like the frist one I tried #17733 18.5" long, at frist I did but after about 1500 miles I got tired of the buzzz... of the V6 ( and it was pretty quite)

I switched to the #17748 25.5" long this was just right no buzzz just a nice rumbble. The #17748 also seemed to give back some low end TQ

After some years of MX racing my ears are sensitive to some sounds.

We just drove it to FL for X-Mas it didn't bother me at all 70-75 mph !

Looking at JBA headers next and maybe a V8 TB

PS your computer will learn the new settings it will just take it about 200-300 miles

It was the 17733. Ive had cars for 40 years and the've all had oem mufflers. Maybe my ears are too old to try something new.

From what I have read on this site part of our V6's high pitch or Buzz comes from being an odd firing engine. I'm no engine expert so I'll have to take there word.
I just turned 41 in Dec. and I'm with you on the in Cab noise I like to be able to hear the radio.
If you ever get brave enough to try another Muffler here are the spec. on the #17748

It's fun (too fun!) when you get into it! I want my next mods to be purely for aesthetics - hard tonneau, rims. It will be a little while before I do any more performance upgrades (maybe). I have no intention of ever growing up either! :)

Hey Dan
I guess us old guys think a like. My trucks also silver metallic. When I first got it I put in a bed liner then installed nerfbars and a hard tonneau cover. For Christmas my wife got me R/T flares and grillcraft grill inserts. It's starting to look real good. When I put the flares on I had to remove the mopar mudflaps I installed a month earlier as they won't fit now. I don't know what's next, but here in Toronto its too cold to work on it anymore so I'll wait till spring.

Dan, you would really be surprised how the TB wakes up the V6. Great mod for the money. I was lucky, I got a real deal on mine by letting people on this board and moparchat know that I was looking for one. I bought a used (15k miles) R/T TB for $75 US. A new one is around $250 US. However, none of the mods work well alone (although you do notice immediate gains with a new intake) and I got the Borla installed, then the TB that night. Together they clicked!! I had ordered a TB cable from the states, and it never showed so I bought one from the dealership for $56. A week later, the other one showed up - so if you are looking for one let me know.
