For the last 6 months or so I have been running the Autolite 3923's, but my idle is starting to deteriorate and the mileage is down. I just replaced the cap and rotor 2 months ago with a Borg Warner unit and put in MSD 8.5 wires. I also run an MSD 6a and Accel coil so I know I have plenty of spark.

Could it be time to change the plugs already? I probably have not driven 10k miles on them yet.

Also, a buddy tells me I should try the AC Delco Rapifire plugs. He said they are awesome (in his car). Anyone tried these?

Last, I was thinking about trying my Bosch +4's again, if the 3923's show excessive wear. Thoughts?

Thanks folks...

If you are switching plugs try the Denso Iridiums, the stock part number is IK16, but if you want colder use a IK20, which should match up to the 3923s. I don't know why maybe one of the techies of the board could tell you.

Josh

I have seen other posts that say that MSD does not recommend platinum plugs with their ignitions.

I personally have not checked their web site to see if this is so.

MSD may have information on other "special metals" plugs such as Iridiums???

I've also read that with the high performance ignitions systems, plugs may last only 5000-7500 miles.

Did you gap your Autolites 5 to 15 thousands larger than the recommended stock gap? I seen many post that say this is a must.

Thanks guys. I heard the Iridiums were pricey though. The 3923's were only a buck a piece. I was gonna try the Rapid fires because I can get them at Wal-Mart for cheap.

Anyone try the Rapid Fires and like them????????

Looks like the web info I found says they are pretty good plugs. But that is on GM vehicles.

HAS ANYONE TRIED THEM on their Dak???

I find that when running the MSD6A I need to replace the cap and rotor every 10k miles or sooner. I usually notice the performance dropping
at around 8.5k miles. I use a cap and button with brass contacts.

I replace the 3923's at every third cap and button change for best performance from my truck.

Sounds good, but i just replaced the cap and rotor witha BW set only about 2k miles ago. That is why I think it is the plugs...

I might give the Rapid Fires a shot this weekend.
