Would it be possible to swap a dodge 8.0 v10 into a truck with the 318? I know they both fit in the Ram, and i was just thinkin....
I dunno all that much about these trucks.

I have riden in a V10 Dakota and it will blow a viper away to 120. I have pictures of truck and instalation and will post if anyone is interseted

The problem I see with those engine choices is the weight. With that much weight on the nose I think it would have no traction at all and drive like crap.
I did a quick search and found:
360 V8-550lbs.
440-675lbs.
426 hemi-765lbs.
viperv10-716lbs.
truckV10-(815-830)lbs
About 20 sites had the same table made by the same guy One of which looks like a restoration site- http://www.241computers.com/ford/ContentExpress20-30-38.html
Wiht the viper motor costing $13,000 I think a Choice would be:
1)Indy 426ci "6 pack" wedge (5oohp@6000,500TQ@4700) for $9999

2)If you willing to spend that much for the viper motor I'd go for an aluminum INDY maxx 572 motor @ only 460lbs and can easily make 800hp on pump gas with optional EFI setup(engine masters 98' magazine) CAN YOU SAY WHEELS UP!!!

thats why you put a 400 BB in... only weighs 60 lbs more than a 360. Switch to an aluminum intake and you loose 40 lbs of that 60. Stroke that 400 with a 440 crank and you got insane power.
big block would be the cheapest way to go by far.

Ever hear a V10 RAM from the tail pipe? Sounds like a big inline 6.
plus the BB V8 would be cheaper, especially on an OLDER non electronic tranny Dakota.

Do you really think anyone looking at a Dakota with a V10 will even notice the sound or even care? Even the SB sounds different from the BB. Some might say the SB sounds a little bit like the V6, unlike the BB.

Yep!
Some people are kind of anal when someone starts a new thread about something that has be previously posted. So I guess to avoid their wrath we recycle old posts.
Of course, on the other hand, there are those people that don't like it when people drag out old posts. I seems to be a catch 22.

I saw show about 6 years ago on tnt. one of those weekened machanic shows. Don't remember which one but they had a segment on about a bolt on V10 convertion for the Dakota. When I emailed about it I was told the project was scrapped after a gentleman was let go. I remember he was an import person but my memery is about as good as a viper with a 4 banger. I don't remember the specifics but it was disappointing.
