Subject: Diff between 318/360

Hello-
I am currious between the diferrence between the 318 and the 360.. Are they the same block with a different bore/stroke, or are they completely different motors. I'm trying to figure out how "big" I could make my 318. I see stroker kits for the 360, but nothing ever for the 318.
Just looking for some knowledge.

Different bore, stroke, and main bearing journal size. Basically same block. If you want a stroker start with a 360. You can get stroker cranks for the 318 but they are lots of money.

You can make a 318 into a 390 stroker with .030 over bore. price is around $2400. Thats from Hughes engines with cast crank, rods, and forged pistons.

Speedomotive makes a reasonablily priced stroker kit. 318 to 350. I believe cast piston kit is $795.00

360 block is a diferent casting but they are basically the same. I beleive the cheapest route to take is a stroker short block from KRC performance, and Marty is a great guy to deal with.

The real difference between a 318 and 360 is that when you have a full exhaust with no catalytic convertors or mufflers...the 360 SCARES the holy bejezus out of ungrateful war protestors like no other motor...hehe
