i have three dakotas, a 2002 off road edition 4.7 cc( yes off road edition i have the inside line)on its way to me in two more weeks, i have an 89 shelby dakota, and listen to this for all you guys that want to out run a high 14 second mustang... a 1992 regular cab stick shortbed 5.2 the first new magnum motor.....3.91 gears 9 inch slick unhooked muffler two hundred pounds of ballast 13.65 stock and i have acually run the same dakota setup at the track and those nmbers are correct..14.00 on the radials stock width......and all of that was bought with cd/player and power everything for $13,500 s/o from dodge in november of 1991 if all you guys want to do is beat a slow ass stang thats poor.... and in case you were wondering i have a 68 dart that runs a 700 horse stroked 340 car runs 10. 20 all motor driven to the track.. and a 69 cuda with a stroked 440 with indy race heads runs 9.70 all motor 9.00 flat on a mild shot of nitrous and a small cam

i have all the same but there is one higher spring and shock option that was jusssttttttttttttttt released through a dealer i use the same dealer i buy al my performance stuff through .. they are one of the dealers that works hand and hand with the factory... and it is my secret...lol and it carries a fulllllll warranty and is warranted by daaimler chrysler .... now let me guess your truck probably stickered out at 28 to 29 and change this thing just hit over 30,000 had to be a little different than those other guys.. and na no scanner for the pics on the dart, and the cuda but if youre in nj ill show em to ya....lol

Slicks came stock on Dak's in 91? I didnt have that option on my 90

kraw... read again 14.00's on radials... and 91 had the recessed headlights and had the dinky magnum motor not the redesigned one... before you can be a smartass you have to be smart or at least know what you are talking about

I own a 95 modded Dakota and a stock 93 5.0 coupe.
The Dak will whip it every time on the street as proven with both me and my brother driving each one againt the other. Driven like hell because neither one of us likes to loose!

keith my 92 is fast as sh*t and every one of those 92 - 96 dakotas were pretty damn fast... and the 5.o notchback is the only 5.0 i like and 93 was the last of the good year... my buddy has a 93 limited edition convert. red with white top and leather sweeeet.... and if you like stangs i live up near a guy nicknamed nitrous pete he runs the fastest injected 302 on the country ... it runs 8.10's stock wheel wells but thats about all thast stock it has an intercooler twice the size of the radiator for that special little turbo he has...man the intercooler in that thing makes the buick gnx intercooler look tiny

my build sheet looks the same but more money....lol and i understand there is a heavy duty but mine basically has coil spacers up front and more arch in the back when i get the window sticker ill tell you what they notate it... i waited an extra three months because it was rumored they would do an offroad edition like the full size...but the bad part about it was they wanted to do it in a two tone paint scheme body colored bumpers and grill so i had to pay extra to get the chrome grille and bumpers....i know the truck you hve stickered out at just under 29000 where im at in nj... maybe i should go where you are to buy my next...lol

Ok. I'm gonna raise the BS flag on this one! It just so happens that I did an internship at Daimler/Chrysler and now I am a full time employee there. There is no such thing as the "off road edition" for the Dakota period! Sounds to me like that circus clown dealership you are buying from is bending you over! Alot of dealerships will come up with their own add on packages, and then overprice you.
BTW: I own a 2002 "Limited Edition Hemi 528" Dakota. Dynoed 578hp and 611ft.lbs. to the wheels on the chassis dyno!! Runs 11.90's@125 on the stock Goodyear P265/70R16's!! Very Rare Truck! Good luck trying to order this from the dealership, cause it's a big secret!!

BB, not taking sides. Just stating a fact that I know about what is in the driveway. I like both the Dak and the 5.0. I'm waiting delivery for a Incon twin turbo for the 5.0 now. Then I will do another street time trial with my bro.

yeahright... it is a limited # and it is warranted by daimlerchrysler not the dealership and it is in fact an offroad-edition and i have had many many chryslers that were the first around and this is the same i keep up or at least i try to and the hemi you are talking about is a package that you can buy to convert your truck i know full well what i am buying... just because you work for chrysler doesnt mean you have access to knowledge of all the things they do ....the same thing was told to me two years ago when i ordered my off road edition fullsize stick 360 factory running boards not dealer.... factory i got truck # 2 in the nation on that one... so lets just wait and see

And just for the record, I don't really own a 2002 Dakota with a Hemi. That was a sarcastic reply to visually show the people in the know how ridiculous these secret "special editions" are that you are talking about. You know what? Why don't you scan a copy of the build sheet so that you can prove me wrong. fair enough yeahright.. im not a computer kinda guy just use this one at work so forgive me if i like cars more than computers and i will post it here somehow the build sheet that is.. and ill get you pics of my two cars.....and its not expensive to build mopar drag cars especially when you now the right people ... and as for your sarcasm its not funny when they actually make an upgrade package like that and it would have run faster than that anyway..... but always fun to play along... until then if you still dont believe then ask details please?

According to Clevite's buils sheet I have the same truck and paid way way less. Its an 2002 4x4 with all the same options as yours and my sticker was 26,000 and the price they sold it to me for was $24,010. This was in Littleton, CO an extension of Denver.
Also I bought a 2000 4x4 Dak before this one for about 22,000 -2,000 for the rebate. You guys should road trip out west and buy your trucks here.

It seems the topic has changed and not really talking bout beating Stangs! LOL
I bought my '00 SLT, CC, Auto, 3.55 LSD, 4.7, 2 wheel drive for a tad over $18k.
I was going to tell you bout my little weekend toy that I drive often, it only runs 9.30s and street legal.....but I won't, you would think it was BS! LOL

How do you put a coil spacer on a torsion bar front suspension? I would like to see pictures of that. I have 2 Daks. A 91 4x4 and a 2001 4x4. They both have torsion bar front suspensions. Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention my father is retiring from Chrysler this spring with 34 years in. I get all the inside news on new models and have not heard anything about a special "off-road" package for the Dakota.

Reading through these posts I was just going to say the same dam thing, there is no way possible to put coil spacers on torsion bar setup....Impossible, no chance, I have the B.S. Flag raised high and im giving it the one fingered salute...

i own a 96' dakota with a 5.2 v8 5 speed extended cab 4x4. My question is Why do i keep getting major wheelhop? when i first bought the truck my tires would spin no problem, but it seems lately
every time i put the pedel to the floor i get the crap beat out of me by my truck, i'm startin to get a lil bit ticked off could someone help?

Actually Tony I think in 2000 you could buy a CC 5.9L engine. I know you can in 99 and 98 so maybe he does have it.

The only way to get a 5.9L in a Dakota is not to order it with 4WD. And BB stated he has the 4X4 off road edition.
